Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well my NAMC order has arrived, and i must say it was LIGHTING fast. I placed the order on saturday and received everything on TUESDAY. (I'M IN CANADA!!!!)

So, the goodies...

I got Lower Elementary manuals - Physical and Cultural Geography, Science Experiments, Matter & Astronomy, Botany and Zoology. (I have sr. Mary Motz math, language and history.) They are all loose leaf in binders, which i think is a really logical organization. The pages are stiff stock with glossy print and stunning photos. They include colour charts and nomenclature. You could easily copy these and use them as your materials. I also love that every lesson indicates whether the lesson is given to year 1,2 or 3 and how many days over which the lesson is typically given. There is plenty of review and background info also. They mention other manuals where appropriate.

I also ordered blackline masters - the complete set of Primary masters (i wanted language materials and the math stuff) and matching Lower Elementary blackline masters for each of the Manuals i ordered.

I am basically pleased. The manuals are STUNNING. Really lovely and easy to understand. The material is well laid out and there are tons of additional resources listed at the back. Some of them are worth the $150 and others are worth less (imho) but still a tremendous resource. Even the ones that aren't worth the full $150 for content are worth it to have it all in one place, easy to access. (Cultural Geography for instance.)

I went with these because I liked the idea of the matching blackline masters. I knew I'd have complete material and wouldn't have to hunt around for cards and stuff. Any hunting time will be better spent preparing and/or adding my own spin.

Some problems - the blackline masters are all black and white except for the Primary Language ones. (At least that i have seen). Notably, the PLANETS are black and white (drat) and the cloud nomenclature is an illustration (totally inappropriate imho.)

For me, as an overwhelmed beginner this makes alot of sense - having it all together. It is very complete which gives me comfort. I also feel certain that when i am done with them i can sell them for a good return.

Also, i'd like to add that unlike montessori r&d the customer service from namc was outstanding.

Just wanted to add, for the benefit of those who may be relying on this post for their own purchase of NAMC materials that that blackline masters are NOT the complete and total set of printed materials required by the manuals, at least not in the case of zoology.

In zoology there are alot of exercises where the teachers is encouraged to make her own materials using animals specific to her region. I think this is appropriate in some cases but not in all...
