Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

ok, still scrambling here....thanks for all the advice in the other posts by the way. the encouragement here is just amazing.

planning for next year, i am getting ready to order some mont. items, and i would love some suggestions from some of you pro's about what you have found indispensible with your 6-9 year olds.

i am talking mainly math at this point and i already have the decanomial box, mult. board, strip boards, stamp game etc.
what else? pythagoras board? trinomial cube? division board? peg board, checkerboard?
help!
lisa

Hi!

I'm new to this myself and starting grade one in september. You might find the Essential of a Montessori 6-9 Classroom post at Lori's AMAZING blog www.montessoriforeveryone.com very helpful. She also sells fantatstic resources.

Check out her comprehensive lists too!

Seconding Lori's site! and adding that the decanomial bead box is our go-to again and again! Also, the hundred and thousand bead chains were very helpful and always popular!

Thanks for all your kind words, ladies! How lovely of you.

Mamamoon, I do find the BIG box of beads to be worth it. For the checkerboard, Montessori Services sells a lovely fabric one. Much cheaper than a wooden one, and so much easier to store. The wooden one is really big. And beads don't roll on the fabric.
