Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I want to incorporate more things for my one year old to do that are Montessori. I have a couple of activities for her, but I'm not very creative in this department. I had made some sound cylinders out of some leftover pirouline canisters(not that I expect her to sit down and match them, just so she could experience the different sounds), but dh vetoed all the noise. Here are a couple of the Montessori-esque things I got her:

Melissa and Doug Stack and Sort Board

Triangle Shapes Jumbo Knob Puzzle

I'm thinking of trying to scrape together enough to add this to my anticipated Montessori Outlet order. I'm trying not to go overboard so that dh won't veto the whole order!!

What are some things I should try?

Hi Erika, here's a few things you might be able to add and they are make it yourself ideas:

Cork Hammering Tray (see first pic in post)

Opening and Closing Activity (second pic in post) Also the red/blue color sorting at the bottom of this post was a fun one.

There is also a TON of great ideas in this

Toddler Carnival I hosted last year.

Hope this gives you a few more ideas for your little sweetie!! Have fun

Many blessings!

Hey that box and ball looks cool!
Some things I have put out for my guys at that age:
-circle puzzle (the easiest b/c you don't need to turn the pieces to fit correctly)
-bank either homemade from an oatmeal can with a slit in the top to put poker chips or juice can lids into or the pink plastic singing piggy variety my youngest got for his birthday- not as montessori!
-a peg to put rings on
-clothspins on a box edge(the non-spring type are easiest)
-simple shape sorter
-texture matching squares (a bag of squares cut from different texture fabric)
-basket of different balls made from different materials
-wooden blocks to build towers
-board books with photos of babies or animals
-nesting cups (my guys also like small ping pong size balls to put in dump out and pour from cup to cup)

This is such a fun age, where you can do alot with things from around the house! You really don't need to spend alot.

Here are two blogs that have lots of toddler montessori ideas:
Chasing Cheerios
Montessori Free Fall
