Since I don't have a blog, I thought I'd just post here in case it might help someone.
I bought the square white tiles to use for a hundred board recently. After cleaning them well to remove the adhesive, I realized that they might easily chip or break with extensive usage. So yesterday I bought some lime green shelf liner at Dollar Tree, and I'm cutting it to cover the back sides of the tiles and gluing it on with Elmer's glue. This seems to at least give a bit of cushion to the tiles, and hopefully will help them last longer.
Since handwriting is a priority here, I wanted to try the writing in sand activity. Yesterday at Dollar Tree I found a nice wall border of letters (print) that shows each letter in upper and lowercase with arrows for writing helps. The thing that drew my attention was that each of the letter sets are in a colored square on the border. I had the idea to cut the squares out and laminate them, and use them with our sand tray so that it can be used for demonstration and correction. What I thought was cool was that the letters appear to be on a wooden background, so cut out and laminated, they look quite nice!

Oh, Vicki! I love your letters idea. That would make tracing the letters in sand so much fun. Good find!

Vicki, that wallpaper border is a great find! And how clever of you to think to cut it up and laminate it for that purpose!
For our sand box I have just been using a set of letter flashcards, but yours seem so much better because of the arrows, actually showing how to form the letters in the sand. My dd would really benefit from this as she tends to make her letters in odd ways. Those type of cards would be great because she could learn to form them correctly without me there to tell her "start here, go this way, etc"

The letters sound great. I still have to glue my letters onto the backing board so we can use them.
My aim is to finish our felt `world' and control cards for the kids to place animals on the right continent - I was inspired by someone's blog but I can't find it right now to post a link. I cut out the continents so they can place them first.
Does anyone else start too many resources at the same time???

Too many projects? No, never!
On my desk I have a huge stack of stuff I've printed up waiting to be cut and laminated including cards for animal parts, geometric solids, all my continent box files, addition facts, botany cabinet, animal, bird, and leaf-shape "who am I", arrows for thousands chain...
My kitchen table is covered with stuff I am moving around from cabinet to cabinet as I reorganize.
My bed is covered with online manual pages I've printed for reference in material making.
My science room is cluttered with various art supplies I'm trying to find a place for...
On my other desk are CGS materials and manuals with a half-finished set of good shepherd materials...
...and my kids are in front of the TV watching Pocahontas 2!
And where am I? Online chatting with you ladies!LOL!

And to think y'all are going to be TOGETHER IN THE SAME building for a day or two!
Love hearing what everyone is working on...gets me off my tushie! And the description of your house, Theresa is WONDERFUL! I'm drowning in my own projects over here too.
I'm.....
Organizing CGS stuff today,
Placing a Montessori-n-such order,
Getting some FIAR in order,
Ordering a World Wall Map
Taking inventory of who needs what type and size of shoes for shopping next week .
Oh yes, and the most important thing I plan on doing today is making a chocolate pie for dh cuz he's comin' home tonight!

I'm so upset I can't make it to the conference, I think I'll just drag myself upstairs and work on lesson plans in the playroom.
But--perking up a little--the playroom is CLEAN and ORGANIZED!!!!! Which around here is a really big deal.

I'm afraid this is me too! It's really quite sad when my grandson says, "Where do I sit this morning to eat my muffins?"...
