Anyone read this one yet: The Advanced Montessori Method: The Montessorii Elementary Materials I'm finding this to be a WEALTH of Montessori at it's best

I am SO waiting to get my hands on this book. I'm trying to win it on EBay right now, but it seems I'm not the only one going for it.

Is this the same as The Advanced Montessori Method: Volume 1 Spontaneous Activity in Education?
Or is that perhaps volume 2? I'll have to see if I can get that through ILL.
Thanks for the suggestion!

No and yes: it is not the same book as Volume 1 and I made a mistake on the Ebay one... oh well, now I have two copies of V1 - I'll just have to offer it for sale on here! :)
But yes, this is Volume 2. For a description:
Here is the Nienhuis link.
ETA my (not so) little soapbox: I just don't 'get' how these books could be listed for SO MUCH money on Amazon and other places, when a person could buy it new from Nienhuis for under $20. Not that $20 is a drop in the bucket to most of us, (and my next $20 book purchase is going for Elizabeth's book - the Montessori stuff is going on a Christmas wishlist except that which I need for training) but $20 is still better than $55 for the same book.

Thanks for the clarification on this, mine library copy doesn't have ANY volume numbers on it, and mine is the original 1917 verison. Perhaps it's been updated/edited?? I love it, I'm going to buy one if I can find it for under $20 , wish me luck!

It's been updated: 1965, 1988/1996, and 200-something. I think the more recent ones are just reprints of the 1965 editions. It sounds like the library copy is volume 1, then?
For once, I actually LIKE Nienhuis prices on these harder to find books (excuse while I am still recovering from shock!). I admit I just sent e-mails to a couple of EBay and Amazon sellers, asking if the books they have listed have any benefit over the ones listed at Nienhuis. I'll let you know if I hear anything. I'm done with my soapbox though.

I've sourced secondhand copies of both volume I and II for a reasonable price.
Would you recommend these as a useful addition to E. Hainstock's 'Teaching Montessori at Home - school years'? And is it reasonably easy to read, or quite 'technical'?

Jo I don't think it's too technical, just keep in mind it was written in 1917 by Montessori and then later translated from Italian, 1971 I think. It's very nicely laid out IMHO

Thank you Meredith
I've ordered both volumes I and II (from our local homeschooling forum / trading post). Look forward to sinking my teeth into both of these.

Well, I received my order of Volume 2 today... but it's Volume 1. I am working on correcting it, but in the meantime, I am a bit disappointed...

I got it! They let me keep the other book and sent me the replacement for free. It's the older copy that Nienhuis sells (not the Clio edition which they also sell).
I cannot wait to get into this one in detail!
