Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Okay, all you Xyron 900 pros...can someone help me figure this out? I just got my laminator (lovin' it!), but I'm noticing that even when I use the cutting bar as soon as the edge of the paper is visible, I still get a big, long, empty "leader" on the next thing I laminate, which is such a waste of the laminator sheet. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Did I even explain that in a coherent fashion? Should someone this dopey be left with small children, let alone take responsibility for their education...?

earthmaven - too funny! i'm having one of these days here too!!

i don't have a laminator yet but hope to get the Xyron 900 as everyone seems to recommend it - but was wondering what benefits there are for laminating versus Contact (my current material) ?

Ok earthmaven - no need to worry - I had this problem too at first, then I figured it out!

You need to save up your laminating til you have a number of things to laminate, unless you're in a laminating emergency in which case you'll just have to live with a little wasted laminating film. I have a stack a mile high, so I laminate til I'm out of film .

First, roll a piece of paper through slowly. Now lean down and watch as it goes in. Wait until the ending edge of the paper just disappears under the rolling bar. If you're moving slowly and steadily you'll be able to feel it a little too. As soon as the edge disappears, set your new paper in the laminator and keep rolling. Do that again and again with your sheets back to back - no cutting in between. Then, when you're done with film or with stuff to laminate, cut, you have only wasted the little bit of film at the end of your run.

HTH a little ladies.

This is exactly my approach too!!

Amber, I highly recommend a laminator over contact paper, and I DO love my Xyron 900. Theresa really likes hers too, but I can't remember which one it is

Have fun!

Jennifer,

Thanks for your help--much appreciated! So I guess I should stop thinking of every little page as a laminating emergency and stockpile instead.

Doesn't look like I'll be recruited to MENSA anytime soon, does it?
