Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have read a bit about the 3 part lesson...but I am wondering how this "really" looks homeschool-style? When you present a new material, how closely do you follow the 3 part lesson? Thanks!

Ok, from what I understand, the three-part lesson is used for learning vocabulary.
For instance, take out a puzzle map and in the first lesson, you simply say the name of each piece as you place it on the mat, repeat it, and the child repeats the name. Do this for only three or so pieces at a time.
Lesson two, ask the child to "point to..." or "show me..." the pieces as you say the names. You may need to review lesson one first.
Lesson three you point to a piece and ask the child to name it. Again, repeating previous lessons if necessary.

I, myself, find it very difficult to do this as prescribed. I always want to jump ahead to the second or third lesson right away, or present too many items. But this year I have decided to try to restrain myself and really pay attention to the three part lesson structure and see if it makes a real difference in retention.

Also, not all presentations use the three part lesson. Again, I think it is used for learning vocabulary only. So if you were presenting a math concept or game or sorting task, etc you wouldn't be using the three part lesson. Or at least I don't.
Am I right, ladies?

That's right Theresa- at least as I understand it is mainly used for vocabulary. I love the 3-period lesson- it really works. I also have trouble being patient though and do try to jump to the second or third period without spending enough time on the the first. I actually have this problem with montessori in general- I dont spend enough time on the preliminary presentations, but tend to jump to the hardest and overwhelm my kids. I'm hoping I am developing more patience and concentration from montessori methods

Oh here is an example of how I might use the 3 period lesson when presenting my butterfly cards to my daughter:
1st period: she matches the cards and I tell her the names (monarch, red admiral, etc) ie "you matched the red admiral!"
2cnd period: I tell her "I am thinking of a butterfly, can you point to the red admiral?" She finds the appropriate card.
3rd period: she matches the cards and I ask her to name them as she does. "Which butterfly is that?" we haven't gotten here yet with this work.

You ladies explained it beautifully and I'm with you on wanting to rush ahead. It has been very helpful for me to practice this on myself or showing my dd (11) how to present something to the 2 yo.

Here is the link to the MWEI Three-Period Lesson
and it is listed in the Sensorial Section at the bottom of the page under the title "Introducing Vocabulary"

Shawna, it's so good to *see* you here with us!!
Blessings!
