Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello! Has anyone used Rod and Staff curriculum? My 2nd grader (7 year old boy) seems to do best with a textbook/workbook curriculum, much to my shock. We used Sonlight with Seton religion added to it for my oldest (5th thru 10th grade) who is now a senior in public school. This is not a good fit for my little one. He really likes doing text/workbook pages. We read a lot of wonderful books outside of "school time".

I have only a small experience with Rod and Staff. We use their Spelling by Structure and Sound. I really like it and my son seems to enjoy the layout. My main question is that about the fact that it's Mennonite. Is there anything in Mennonite teachings that would directly oppose a Catholic perspective? I know next to nothing about what Mennonites believe. I read some of the samples of the curriculum and it seems very godly and good, just want to find something we can stick with for a while.

Is there any other textbook/workbook type curriculums that you would recommend? I have looked into Seton (as a whole curriculum) a bit, not sure why but it doesn't appeal to me as much as Rod and Staff. Any insight on this would be very appreciated. Thank you.

My dc enjoyed their second grade science book a few years ago...
and many moms I know locally like the math series and the readers.
My dd enjoyed the readers when she was a new reader- the Busy Days, etc books.

No one has ever mentioned any anti-Catholic issues- but they were not using the religion and were using the materials for the elementary grades.
