I was wondering if any of you all know if there is much difference in enrolling with Seton in the lower grades and enrolling in high school as far as what type of information they require etc. I was with Seton for most of upper elementary school for my eldest and he was also enrolled in 6th-7th grades. Prior to going with one school for all of high school, I wanted to experiment with Kolbe Academy for 8th grade to see if I wanted to use Seton or Kolbe for all 4 years of high school. Once I do go with a high school program, I really want to stick with it for transcript purposes.
After much prayer, I feel as if the Lord is leading me back to Seton. I am still not completely decided, but a few things seemed to fall into place. Anyway, my question is do you think it is just as easy to enroll with them for high school as it was for the younger grades? I also didn't give them any notification that I wasn't going to use them this year. I wonder if this will cause problems? Anyone else do this sort of thing without a bunch of hoops to jump through? Will he have to be tested for placement? (is that the norm for high school anyway?) Just wondering. I guess I can also call Seton and ask, but I assumed someone would probably have some experience with this.

They don't need notice. You can sign him up for whatever grade/classes you want.

We have floated in and out of Seton and they have never once questioned me about it. They never asked us to administer placement tests either, they are extremely flexible and totally trust the parents decisions. One of my children only did the required part B of one grade and it was never questioned, we never do their history, they accept whatever you, the parent, decides.
The Catholicism is so richly woven throughout the curriculum; it has been a life line to the Faith in the desert our family is presently living in, we are very grateful for Seton.
I wouldn't worry one bit about being made to jump through hoops.

We have found them to be extremely flexible -- we have used them for 9th and 10th (as well as various elementary and jr high) and greatly altered our courses from what their catalog lists as the typical choices for the high school years. They have always been very accomodating.
That said, after three years of Seton, especially the two years of highschool, I am going to do something different - it is not working for us.

I just got off the phone with them!
I'm thinking I'm going to fully enroll my oldest for 9th grade.
I think they are very flexible and helpful.
Yes, they are hard, but I don't think it's busy work.
And every student I've met that graduated with Seton says the same thing, college is easy after 4 years of Seton.
I still plan on using Life of Fred math and we're doing Kolbe's greek history and lit for 9th too. Seton doesn't have history in 9th, so the counselor said I could add those courses from kolbe in under electives. And for LoF, I can either get an independent study for credit but without grading option or I can just complete the required work and turn it in without using the saxon to do it. Whether I use the saxon or not is entirely up to me.
I know I'm going to enroll in 3 courses for 9th grade and it's not a lot more to just fully enroll. In fact, enrolling in 4 courses is more expensive than fully enrolling, so I'm leaning towards just fully enrolling.

That is such a relief to hear. I was worried that they would want me to explain why I had left for a year. The easier the better!
