Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am not an adoptive parent, Helen, yet I can't pass up the opportunity to say hello and wish you and everyone who graces this forum many, many blessings as you discuss the beautiful gift of adoption.

Prayers are being said for you all!

Well, just in case anyone doesn't already know, we adopted our youngest child, who is now 5, from the state of NC social Services at the age of three. She has an unfortunate background of abuse and neglect, and has some "scars" to prove it, but is healing beautifully. She is such a joy that I cannot imagine our lives without her.
So, that is our story.
Anyone else want to share?

We have 3 birth children and two adopted ones. Our little ones are quite a bit younger than our teens so sometimes we feel like we have 2 families! Glad to see this forum!! I could use the encouragement and some sharing.

Hi,

We have three children here, one in heaven, and are hope-hope-hoping to begin an international adoption very soon - within the few months. Any prayers you could send our way in that regard would be so very appreciated.

I am not an adoptive parent either, but wanted to drop in and say hi. For some reason, I have ALWAYS had a special affection for children waiting to be adopted and the parents who do. I have prayed for so many children that I don't even know ever since I was a teenager. So, know that my prayers are with you.
God Bless,

I'm glad this forum is here! It was a pleasant surprise when I logged on tonight. My name is Jennifer, my dh and I have 3 bio daughters ages 7,6, and 4. Our son, Michael, was born in Guatemala on September 14, 2006. We just got back from our first trip to meet him 2 weeks ago. It is our hope and prayer that he will be home with us in the next 3-4 months!

I can't tell you how exciting it was to log on tonight and see this forum up and running!

We have two biological sons and we just brought our daughter home on October 25, 2006 from China and are hoping to go back again this year or early next year. Hannah will be 2 next Saturday, February 10th.

We adopted our ds at age 4 months in 2000. We are going back to Guatemala sometime soon to visit our daughter born 12/5/06. She is our Christmas miracle! We didn't expect a referral until at least Feb.

I am busy getting the house ready for our new baby. Ds is beside himself about having a sister. Dh does not stop grinning about his girl. We are very blessed!

Saying prayers for those waiting and discerning adoption.

Marybeth

We have 4 children, biological ds6,dd4, dd19mos, and adopted ds17mos. This explains the "non biological" twins phenomenon that is mentioned in my signature. We were not planning to adopt, but were always open to the idea. Ds's birthmom was connected to us by a mutual friend. She asked us to adopt her baby 2 weeks before he was born. He is truly our surprise miracle. We enjoy a beautiful open adoption.

I too was very excited to see this forum. Thank you!

I'm hoping to be an adoptive auntie! My brother and his wife have been married for over 10 years, and have not been able to conceive. They are in the midst of masses of China adoption paperwork! I hope I can check in here if they have any questions.

I have several friends who were adopted, several who have adopted, and even know a few women who have given their children to others through adoption.

I think it is wonderful that you have started this forum!

I am Mama to 4 wonders of the world...twin dds-8, ds-6, and ds-5 all from India. We traveled there in 2000 to meet the girls, 2002 to meet ds-6, and dh traveled alone in 2005 to bring home ds-5.

While we never dreamed we'd be able to do it, adoption has been the biggest blessing of our lives. At the same time, it has been the biggest challenge, too. Ds-6 was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder last summer, and we are in intense therapy with him. There is hope, and we trust that God will open his heart to us in time.

We are praying to be able to go back one more time, but our ages are against us, as India's laws are specific about this.

What a great place this forum is! Thank you for starting this

Oh, Liz. RAD is such a difficult cross for anyone to bear. I will definitely be praying for you and ds, that his heart will be opened to you.

My Dh and I are the parents of 2 living biological children and 2 adopted children. Our youngest 2 dc came to us as foster children and when they were unable to be reunited with their birth parents we adopted them. We have had one other foster child who lived with us for about a year before he was reunited with his birth father. We continue to be foster parents providing emergency shelter for children birth - 2.

Thank you for starting this forum.

Thank you, Theresa. We will be blessed by your prayers, I'm sure. The opening of his heart is one of my intentions of the 54 day novena.....
Where in NC are you? We just moved near Ft. Bragg in Dec. from Iowa and we are loving the warmer weather!

My own dear brother was adopted into our family when he was 8 weeks old, and that was some 36 years ago. I cannot imagine going through life not having him as my brother. I give thanks often that his birth mother was willing to give him up and that the Lord placed him in our family.

Adoption is such a blessing for everyone... especially the other children in the family.

My dh and I began preparing to adopt in AZ when I became pregnant with John Paul. Now that JP will be two in May, our family is revisiting what we call our "on hold" status.

I'll post some direct questions when I have a chance and I'm so glad to have this forum to turn to for support as we discern God's will for us.

Love,
