Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I couldn't decide where to put this, so I started a new thread here. We went in for an induction on Wednesday October 4th. I didn't know it but my midwife had real concerns about the doctors scheduled to back her up on the days before and after the 4th. But the doc on on the 4th was the one she felt comfortable would let me do everything necessary to VBAC if possible. She broke my water around 8:30. We walked a while and chatted with one of the labor nurses who went to collge with Mike and whose husband was on the basketball coaching staff when Mike worked for the athletic department at George Mason University. I jokingly asked her if she still had a maternity jumpsuit I loaned to her twelve years ago...

Around 10, idle chit chat stopped abruptly. I was about 6 centimeters (I had started at 4) but I had weird painful pressure/pushing feeling contractions. Karoline was posterior. I've had posterior babies before, but this felt entirely different. At 11:00, I was 7 , having contractions 90 seconds long with about 30 seconds between them. And there was all kinds of pressure. I kept thinking about Alice's painless births and wondering why in the world I was doing this without an epidural. I was also really, really worried that she'd get stuck and I'd need a crash section without an epidural and with a general. Around 1:15, after some gymnastics I still can't believe I did nine months pregnant, she turned. I went from 7 centimeters to holding my baby in about 20 minutes.

No rips, tears, or stitches.

We both feel rather bruised but ever so grateful!

Thanks for sharing.

YEAH! I am so happy that you were able to have a successful VBAC.

Congratulations again! Give that sweet baby a big hug and kiss from her cyber aunties.

Blessings,
Krisann

I'm so happy that things went the way you and your midwife had hoped they would. I'm definitely glad you didn't need an emergency C! (I've had one!) Karoline is such a darling baby, and it's a real joy to see the photos of her older brothers and sisters...I can tell that they're totally in love with her.

Thanks for sharing.

Congratualations, Elizabeth, on a safe delivery of your angel.

I winced remembering my posterior delivery (I will never forget)---all natural--my FIRST, a girl. She was born "sunny-side up", nothing I did would turn her! I was in shock for a few hours and barely did more than just glance at her before they whisked her away for intubation for meconium.   Glad to hear your little girl ended up having a normal delivery with no complications, and your family was able to have such beautiful bonding.

Whew, what a relief to know mom and baby made it through safely (and with as few after-effects as possible!!)

Congratulations on your triumph (posterior deliveries are so tough) and on those gymnastics ...with those kinds of contractions all I can do is breathe!
