I know this is discussed all over and I've tried so many things but it never seems to work with DD (3 almost 4). I think part of this is genetic since DH and I are both picky eaters. It's just so frustrating. I've tried the one bite rule and she erupts in tears like I'm doing something horrible by putting kale on her plate.

She used to eat fruit but now she claims she doesn't like fruit. She hasn't eaten meat in months. She stopped eating cheese too. Basically she eats loads of carbs. I make most of the bread she eats so at least it's whole wheat without scary ingredients. She won't allow me to put butter or jam on the bread either. I can't remember the last time she ate a vegetable.

She likes Popsicle so I thought about making some homemade Popsicles. I've seen some recipes online with Kefir or yogurt (she hasn't eaten yogurt in a few years). But I'm tired of trying to make special things that she turns up her nose at.

Any tips? I know part of this is a phase and that it's normal for kids her age to be picky but it's still so frustrating. I hate making food that she doesn't touch or screams and cries because I put it on her plate and then I throw it away uneaten.

For the popcicles.. what about just buying the fruit juice type? Costs a bit more but at least you're not putting tons of effort into it.

And what about involving her in cooking? I mean, let her dump in the ingredients when you're mixing something up, learn to scrub the veggies etc. My little guys LOVE handing potatoes to whoever is doing the peeling for instance.

But the more you involve her and talk about the food in a non-threatening way, she may become interested in spite of herself.

you could give this cookbook a try.

I have used many of the recipes and my kids love them. Their very favorite is a chicken ( or fish) fingers recipe. She has a special flour formula (I think it is one cup white, one cup wheat and one cup wheat germ) that you can keep on hand for various things.

This is from memory but I am pretty sure it is right.
Slice chicken breast in strips.

dip in flour mix (you can just use one type of flour if you want)

dip in pureed carrots, sweet potato and egg mix (I cook up a bunch of carrots and sweet potatoes, puree them and freeze in one cup serving size. Defrost the mix and add 2 eggs)

dip in bread crumb or ground nuts and shredded parmesan cheese

fry in olive oil or coconut oil (or both)about 3-5 minutes each side. Or bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

There are other ways to get various veggies and fruits in your dd. I know it is a pain but what I have found is that now my kids will eat those veggies w/o having to hide them.

My SIL had success with her picky eater when she cut out all juice and milk, he only had water to drink. That way he wasn't getting full on his drinks. It only took a couple of weeks and he was eating regular meals. He is not a big eater but at least he eats.
