Wondering if anyone has one of these in their SUV? We need more seating as we are having our 6th baby in Oct. I don't want to buy a new/used vehicle as we own both of ours. We are considering this for my husband's Tahoe, then he would use our van and I could use the Tahoe. We could get by as is, but it would be nice to have at least one vehicle we can all fit in. What do you think of these??

$790 is way cheaper than buying my 12 passenger van and filling it with gas. It looks like any other bench seat, so i suspect if properly installed, it is just as safe. I would assess whether the older children sitting there are mature enough to not literally butt heads with the kids behind them  and leave the rear door alone. Only you can answer that though.
I'd put my 11 and 10 year old in that seat.

We had one in our Ford Explorer and just loved it! It did take away all of our cargo area, but it was well worth it for us not to need to buy a bigger car. Car seats don't really work -the seatbelts are not designed for them, so we just had our kids ages 4 and up sit in the back. My oldest was comfortable in until he hit about age 11. They are really designed for people under 5'9 (I think!)

Did you install it yourself or have someone else do it. I figured we would lose our cargo space, our Tahoe doesn't have much as is. I guess when I go grocery shopping I'll have to leave the kids home with our oldest and if we go on a trip we'll get one of those things that go on top of your vehicle. Did you get a forward or rear facing seat? Thanks for your input ladies.

We had my brother-in-law help install it. It was very easy - in fact, we installed it rear facing and after 2 days, 3 of my children were so car sick that we had to reinstall it forward facing! We didn't have any car sick issues after that!

Loved ours in our suburban! It is definitely best though for the younger crowd--5-10. Ours was rear facing. It does kill the storage space but is a nice alternative to avoiding the ugly big van as long as possible:)

I am having a hard time convincing my husband that this is the way to go, he kind of drags his feet when making decisions. It takes 8-10 weeks to get the seat once ordered, it would be nice to have it before our 6th baby arrives in early October. It's his decision, so we'll see, thanks for your input!

fyi it can take longer than that too. The 8 - 12 weeks is an average. We ordered ours for our suburban on March 15th and it's coming next week.
My bil and sil loved theirs in their suburban. Same thing: took away space, but much easier to drive a suburban.

We are looking atone of these too...possibly needing a 4 wheel drive vehicle that fits everyone. My husband is a bit wary of the safety of after-market seats.
I haven't looked very thoroughly through the website, but do they say that they have tested the seat in "every vehicle"? I can't remember. That's one of his issues.
Also, the impact that a rear-end collision might have with a rear-facing seat......sending glass forward hitting the occupants in those seats. But then you have that with rear-facing infant seats too, in smaller cars.
Also, look into the specifics of your vehicle/model and it's "crumple zone."

Suzanne, they can be installed forward facing as well. I read one of the testimonials from someone who was involved in a crash and said the little passenger seat kept everyone safe. If we order, we are going to upgrade to the retractable shoulder belt instead of just the standard lapbelt. Seems safer to me...I don't want a car payment again, so I'm hoping my husband will agree to buy one.

We did the retractable belts as well which does give you added safety. They also sell some used seats as well I think--they are very well made.
