I am taking a cue from the Poetic Gems 4 Training, Manners, Discipline thread (which was very useful, and I am using those 'gems' now!) and adding a twist. I am looking for help finding moral, Biblical or other Religious 'gems' for reminding children to obey and behave virtuously. Although we teach catechism in the home and try to have an active church life, it just doesn't seem like enough to ingrain the religious virtues. These sayings can come from the Bible or saints writings or other sources, such as literature with a moral bent.
For instance "Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right" Eph 6:1. I am looking for things that, if said enough, will really stick with them. Perhaps someone can contribute positive building-up sayings to help reinforce modesty, kindness, generosity, etc. Do you know what I am looking for?

These aren't Catholic.. but a friend had pointed them out. I believe it's the KJV.. so you might want to just take the citation and look it up in a Catholic version.
Just scroll down for the list..
The Bean Jar For scripture correlated to misbehaviors.
And then there's The Faithful Servant Jar with scripture related to positive behavior.
ETA - I would check out both lists.. because the scripture may not be "negative" but could be positive reinforcment.. you just look it up differently.

Thanks Jodie. Some of those biblical quotes are indeed good, though some are a bit long to use repeatedly. A short one that I've heard used is "God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Cor 9:7
I guess my topic title is misleading...perhaps I should have written it as 'Moral Gems 4 Manners and Discipline.' I'll PM the moderator to possibly change it so that this thread gets more input.
Here are some that I remember from books:
"When you don't know what to do, help somebody." from "The Duckling Who Didn't Know What to Do" by Clara D. Pierson. This used to counteract the child who says he's bored.
“Being comfortable is very good, but it does not make a person good.” from Water Babies by Charles Kingsley. To be used when children think they are lacking in some material item, or when they have to undergo some hardship or adversity that makes them uncomfortable.
"Laura, it's not polite to contradict." From the Little House on the Prairie series. I believe Ma says this several times, almost always to Laura. I use this when a child always has something opposing to say.

Yes I knew some of those were pretty long. But I knew the lists were pretty exhaustive.. so it would be a good place to look for what would work for the situations you want them for.
And if you're ever looking for something longer.. say for a copywork assignment or something and want to give them something to think on that would help with a particular virtue.. then it can be handy to know where to find longer ones too.
