Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The title sort of says it all, how do you handle chores especially with your preschoolers? We have a "chore" list for dd:
1. put dishes away after meals--dump uneaten (that can't be saved)foods in the trash can and put dishes in sink.
2. make bed in morning
3. put dirty laundry in basket/hamper
4. pick up (or help) toys before bed.

We don't expect it to be perfect but she does most of it on her own. We've been working hard on the making the bed (will be easier when she's out of her converted toddler bed).

We just ask that she tries, perfection is not the goal, it is about respecting her things. We try hard to show the same thing with our stuff.

We are starting an allowance/commission (as per dave ramsey) this upcoming year since it is the first year we are enforcing chores, or the attempts. She gets an allowance (guaranteed) of $1.00 and then .50 for every chore on her list that she does, more days than not during the week. She definitely understands the chore concept. We are also encouraging the division of her allowance and/or commission. Split between "save", "charity/donate", and "spend".

How do you handle it?

Pardon my rambling

It sounds like you're very organized! I've always wanted to encourage the division of save, donate and spend... but I never have money on hand to dole out an allowance, so I've never done it. Mostly because if I have money on hand, I spend it and can't remember where, so I'm a credit card junkie for accountability.

We have chore cards for each boy and a master daily chart on the fridge. They do them most of the time. When they don't, I usually yell or act in some irrational manner. And nope, that's not an effective reaction, so I'm glad that they do them most of the time.

We have breakfast, lunch, and dinner chores. Lunchtime chores are the hardest to enforce because there's usually a million other things going on a the same time.
