Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

When did your daughters begin babysitting? My daughter, 11yrs., has taken the babysitting course through Red Cross and has had several daytime jobs right in our own neighborhood, across the street. I started babysitting at 11yrs too. My daugher is very mature and our neighbors love her. When did you let yoru daughters start?

My daughter is 11yo and is always begging me to let her babysit. She already babysits her brothers when I have to be gone for a short period of time.
Right now, she is a "mother's helper" to a friend of mine. She watches this lady's children while she is home, but working on their home business. I think it's great experience for her.

Truthfully, she's probably quite ready to babysit. She's very mature and responsible. I'm dragging my feet on the issue though because of some "attitude problems" she's had lately. I'm sure it's just adolescence, but I don't want to let her babysit for others if she is disrespectful to me.

In our state you have to be 13 to babysit. A certain young lady in my home is counting the days...

(I started at 11, but only for trusted family friends.)

My dd 10 is also very eagerly waiting to baby sit. I'm waiting 'till she turns at least 13 as well. Something about this being a right of passage for a teenage girl appeals to me. For now she is a great "big" mama's helper around here . We call her our youngest boy's "baba". She likes that.

My daughter started being a "Mother's Helper" just before she was 12. She started actually babysitting when she turned 13. I was in 7th grade, so I just calculated and that made me 13 as well. I think it was a few months before I turned 13 but pretty close.

I started at 12 after I took the babysitting class, and only for people we already knew. (neighbors or friends)
Although personally, I'm not sure how comfortable I would be with leaving my own kids with a 12 year old, non-family member. (I have only done that with DHs little sister, when she was 12, but only the toddlers, never a really little baby...)
