Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi,

My daughter (3) might/probably has chicken pox. The ped wasn't 100% sure b/c she only has a few pox so far, but that was her best guess. So I was wondering what some of you have used to try and ease the itching (or any other symptoms we're about to have) or just generally get us through this experience more smoothly. Any ideas? I know about doing oatmeal baths, so we'll try that for sure.

Thank you!

Mindy

I hope someone can confirm or deny what I am about to write.

my boys had chicken pox's last year. They were doing pretty well with it, UNTIL they took a bath. I don't know if it was due to the fact that there was more than one infected persons in the tub or not, but after they got out the pox's spread like crazy and were intolerable for quite a few hours after.

When I told a friend about out experience she seemed to remember someone saying that baths spread them (as In if you want to give it to someone else, have them take a bath together).

I hope that helps. Besides that, it really wasn't' that terrible of an experience.

I've heard it's the heat of the bath that causes them to break out more.. a tepid bath is what you're wanting with the oatmeal.

You can get a homeopathic to help fight it off more.. Rhus Tox

When we had 3 dds and one ds with chickenpox, we bathed the girls together in lukewarm water to which we added baking soda. As each one came out of the tub, we PATTED her dry, then had her stand on a towel sort of spread-eagle. That way we could see all of the pox, which we dabbed with caladryl, applying it with a cotton ball. When the spots were dry, the children got dressed in something cool and loose.   And we gave them benadryl orally if they felt too itchy still. We did the same for our son, we just never bathed him with his sisters for the sake of modesty. There was never any increasesd discomfort following the baths. I don 't know what to say to that.

Peace,
Nancy

That is probably what it was, too hot of water!
