I'm looking for some reccomendations.
Number five wants to be held all.the.time. (he's 9mo) I have a moby, but I'm short waisted, and he's right under my chin, and I think it shrunk, anway, so that's out. I thought about getting a sling, but s/o told me about their BECO and how it made things so much easier having their little one on thier back. Its a bit much, so I thought I'd try some alternatives. I picked up an Infantino at Target and hated it, because the baby seemed to slide down my back and the harnessing in the front rode up. It wouldn't tighten further. That went back!
I'm looking at a couple of used BECO's on Ebay, but if this is going to be just as uncomfortable, then I don't want to purchase it from someone that I can't return it to, KWIM?
So-- does anyone have a front/back pack they'd like to rave about?

I've heard that the best out there is the Ergo.
Followed by one of the softsided ones like the Mei Tai.

Anne,
My best friend makes the Migowrap put of her home. It is hands down the best wrap out there. On her website she has comparrisons with a ton of other wraps. This is not for your back though!
Just thought I would jump in and suggest.

I had a Bundle With Love Mai Tai and LOVED it for DD - it has wrap style straps so is much easier on the back I found.

Hmmm, the Mei Tai's are looking good! They're simple and beautiful, where the Ergo looks too bulky.
I like the Migowrap and the bundle with love, but I don't think they're exactly what I need right now. I will keep those in mind if there's another!

A carrier is such a personal decision! There are so many opinions on what is "the best."
I don't think you'd be disappointed with a Becco from what I've heard. I've never heard anyone complain about them, though some might prefer an Ergo. I've never had a Becco, though, but have always wanted to try one!
I do love my Kozy carriers as far as mei tais go and they are my go to carrier, but my husband wears toddlers long after I give up wearing them in the Ergo, so if you think your husband might use it, the Ergo is a bit more manly looking.

This website the babywearer is chock full of reviews and helpful information on the different baby carriers out there.. it can really help figure out which will work best for you.

I have a Beco Butterfly that I love. (My youngest is nearly 10 months.) I went with it over the Ergo because I felt safer getting him on my back in a Beco than the Ergo. You first put the child on frontways in the Beco and then slide them around to your back. I love it. SO comfy. I had Amazon gift cards, so I ordered from there, but my friend ordered one from a different site and it came with a free little girls size Beco for her daughter. So cute!
(and I just looked at your sig and our kids are the very same ages! too funny!)

Melissa- how funny! You won't believe it-- Ben was born on 9/1/09!
I ordered a Mei Tai this morning and I'm itching to get it! I went on the babywearer site, Jodie, and everyone was raving about it. I'm hoping that having the straps go over my shoulders like a bookbag will be more comfortable than having the straps link together across my chest-- it rode up with the other one I tried, and was horribly uncomfortable. I just wish it was coming sooner, but you have the option to pick your fabrics, and I"m super excited about that! Thanks for all your input, ladies!!

I have a Beco and really like it. It is similar to the Ergo, but if you are primarily interested in wearing the child on your back and you are not familiar with getting your child on your back with a Mei Tai type carrying, then I think the Beco would be a good choice. The Beco has a panel between you and the child which makes getting the child on your back *really* easy. With the other ones I think you have to kind of "throw" the child on your back or have a chair or something that can help you get the child on your back. With the Beco you put the child on your front and then easily slide the carrier around to the back carry.

Just wanted to clarify that the Ergo really isn't difficult to use for back carries: you just put the Ergo on as if you're going to wear baby on your front (bib hanging down), pick up baby, and hold her against your front, pull both straps up and under baby's arms, grab both pack straps in one hand, push baby (already seated in the pack) around to your back, reach behind your neck to grab the second strap with the opposite hand, and put the straps on. Clear as mud? I know that wasn't the easiest explanation to follow, but I just wanted to make sure people knew that there really are options for getting baby on the back in the Ergo other than those one would use for a regular wrap.
That said, I think mei tais are great, and I have been drooling over the Beco for a while now. They are lovely, and I hope you love yours, Anne!

I just got an Ergo - the biggest problem I have with it is that if you are going to switch between children, you have to do a lot of readjusting. I am used to using a wrap - one size fits all...
