Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I cannot figure out why my 3 year old does not like to play outside. I was always a kid who preferred being outside to in, even if I was just outside reading a book or three. I still would rather be outside than in.

All of my other kids (all older than this dd) love to be outside. I judge how good of a day it was by the amount of dirt on my kids. A lot of dirt = great day.

This 3yo does not like to be outside, at least at our house. We've tried bubbles, chalk, trikes, balls, sandbox etc. She still would prefer to stay inside and play with toys. She sometimes outright refuses to come out. So then I have to be inside and trust my other kids outside by themselves.

She does like to go to the park, but that's not possible every day.

On some level, I think it may be a control thing with her, and I'd prefer not to battle with her over it. I'd like to help her see how much fun it is and join us.

Any advice?

Anita

I get out toys outside and put away toys inside when we have weather for playing outside.

My oldest dd went through a stage were every single little bug sent her into fit and she would run into the house. I wanted to be outside after a long winter. So, I went outside and left the door open so I could keep an eye on her.. I wouldn't allow her silly fear to keep me in the house. Eventually she ventured outside and hasn't looked back. She wants to be outside all the time.

I have one who is just not an outside person. When she was a baby we could step out on the porch with her and she would cry, step back in and she would stop. It was comical!

She is 4 now and will go out more frequently with the other kids but she still prefers to be indoors much more than the rest of mine do.

Every child has their own little quirks.

Do you have a porch she could play on? My little girl went through a stage like that. I took her little pretend kitchen out on our back porch and told her she could pretend the porch was her playhouse. I couldn't get her inside after that.
