Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

In less than 3 months, my son has managed to get 3 tickets and into a major accident. 1 ticket from the accident and 2 for speeding. He is a bright, responsible kid, usually conscientious his dad and I are bemused with his careless driving. Each time, he wasn't way out of line: one ticket was for 9 miles over the speed limit but still...

At this point, we will not be letting him drive without one of us in the car for a long long time. In fact, he is danger of losing his license with the state. It is an IL law that teens can't get more then 2 tickets in a years, or their license is suspended for 60 days. The ticket from the accident we are going to take to court. But if his license is suspended, we are going to have to drop him from our insurance. We are already paying $750 every 6 months, I am sick with the thought of how much it is going to go up!

Is this just a maturity issue? Distracted driving? He is an arrogant boy, and I think he is too cocky when he drives.

My huge problem is that now I have to drive him to and from school, which is an hour round trip twice a day. This is incredibly disruptive to the rest of my household and to our school day. Of course in the grand scheme of life its more important to keep him safe and teach him responsible driving skills, but ugh! I loathe that drive.

Sigh, and the next in line starts drivers ed next week.

This resonated with me... I have a similar scenario. The way I described it is "overconfident" but cocky would probably fit .

As I'm sure ds would not like to have his driving record discussed online, I'm PMing you .
