Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Due to a series of issues, my husband and I had to have a blunt talk with our 15 year old about relationships, purity, acceptable behaviors and such.

We were all sitting in the family room talking. The conversation was very mature and hit many sensitive topics and our 15 yos handled it with surprising maturity. But what struck me as odd was that while we were all talking, he was building with Legos and arranging his Hot Wheels. So on one hand he is having to deal with weighty issues, but he is still a child that likes to play with his toys.

For some reason it bothers my dh that our 15 year still plays with toys (on his own, not just with with younger sibs) Personally, I am going to encourage it for as long as possible!

My 18 yo still loves his KNEX!

He and his 14 yo brother love to set up Playmobil sets and battles for their younger brothers, I love it!

My teen son loves to fiddle with things when we talk. He loves his Legos, too. I think this behavior is 100% normal. My dd is hoping her big brother will be the "cool uncle" (a necessity for every kid, according to her) if she has kids.

My ds went to highschool last year. Some days he would come home and play with the army guys in our kids toy room. He didn't want anyone to know. I think it's how he dealt with stress. I haven't noticed it this year, but it wouldn't bother me if he did. We just had parent teacher conferences and all his teachers commented on his maturity.
I know there are men that work on old cars. A family friend just rebuilt an old Corvette. Isn't that sort of the same thing, just a more expensive and ... "grown up"... version of legos or K'Nex?
