I am not sure where to post this exactly. I am interested in purchasing a play kitchen for my DD for Christmas. I am specifically looking for wood and for it to be neutral in color.

Could anyone please recommend what they have and your opinions? It is quite a hard decision and for the money ... I really want to make a great choice.

TIA!

Not much time but if you search "wooden play kitchens", I know you will find a few threads, one started by me a few years ago.    We are quite happy with our purchase two years later!

I recently discovered that there are several makers on Etsy. Just go to etsy.com and then search for wooden kitchen. I actually did this just two nights ago and found several really cute ones.

I've been eyeing Etsy as well! Some really nice ones, and you can even have a custom-made one that way, should you so desire.

Instead of a kitchen, we purchased a wooden marketplace. Here is the one we purchased: www.blueberryforest.com/kitchen_grocery_play/selecta-basar-p lay-store.htm.

We love, love, love our marketplace! We like it because it can be played with many ways. It can be a kitchen (we purchased a wooden cooktop that sits on the arm of the martketplace), a grocery store, a deli counter and even a bookstore. My girls and my son all play with it but in different ways. It is unpainted - I simply rub it down once a year with mineral oil and it looks great.

We purchased the marketplace as a Christmas gift for our 3 littlest kids. We told all our family members what we were doing and they had a great time buying accessories and wooden food to go along with the marketplace. It was one of the best Christmas gifts so far - they had a great time seeing the marketplace and then opening presents filled with food and dishes for the marketplace.

Hope this helps.

Okay...I am totally in with Etsy! Definitely check there!

We bought ours a year and a half ago from Nova Natural. The style we purchased is no longer made, but they're all still made by a family owned company in Vermont called "Elves and Angels". The work is beautiful quality!

You can see it here if you scroll down to the second picture.

We bought ours 3 years ago -- the best purchase ever. We used Gummylump, and this is the one we have. We didn't pay this much, and had free shipping.

It's just a universal draw, for young and old, boys and girls.

Too cute. Good size. Do your boys play with it a lot? We have the one my dad built for me when I was little, but it is a separate counter/sink/cabinets, refrigerator, and stove!! I think I am giving it to my niece because my boys just don't play with it enough to justify the real estate.

This one is my favorite though. I would have him put the drawer under it that you see in other styles in his shop, thereby raising the sink height and, in theory, extending its useful play life. We had a plastic set that had an 18" sink height and my children found it inconvenient past the age of 3 (they have their father's height).

Yes, my boys play with it all the time. It's in different forms of play than the girls, and many times it's used for other play, but it's a constant here.

Hi TIA,

I don't know how old your little girl is but something to keep in mind when shopping for a play kitchen is almost all the ones we looked at that were wood and no color were smallish in size. In other words they work great for ages 2-4 years.

Last year we bought this KidKraft Large Kitchen I saw it on Teresa LaPaz's website and fell in love because I knew my kids could grow with it.

Unfortunately it not neutral in color, BUT it is wooden and it was large enough that my nine yob, seven yog still like to play in it all the time with their 4 and 2 year old siblings. It definitely gave us the best bang for our buck.

Just something to keep in mind.
