I've been on a mission the past year to find PERFECT HAIR BRUSH!!!!! With 5 girls and me in the house, I rationalized that this wasn't a waste of my time . I loathe those crazy brushes in main-stream-stores.....they don't work, and my girls can't brush their hair well enough on their own.
Well, the results are IN!!!!!! This Spornette "Porcupine" Brush!!!!!!!!!! is our absolute favorite for everyday brushing. It's great for most hair types....short, long, fly-away, Asian, thick, thin, silky. The only kind of hair it's NOT great for is naturally-curly-really-thick-and-frizzy-hair. We now have 4 of these, in the different hair-brushing places throughout the house. Love 'em!
And, then for brushing/combing after washing, this one (more well-known) is a must. It really helps getting through the long hair after washing, and is much better than any other brush, comb, pick, etc. out there. And, the Denman brushes last forever.....so if you don't lose them, they're well worth the $$$. My neighbor has had hers for 15 years.
Denman Styling Brush.
So, now you know the results of my all-important-research-project . I probably could have just come HERE and asked all of YOU for your favorite hair brush and saved myself a lot of effort
I'm just SURE you all have this on your to-do list....."Obtain Better Hair Brushes For Household"

Key phrase there!
Thanks for doing the research! I just buy whatever is on the shelf at Target.

Thank you Suzanne for doing the leg-work on this all important issue in our home, as well! For the last 2 years, we've bought our favourite hairbrush from a local Hairdresser @ $15 each! Yikes! Knowing the research is in, I'll be on the lookout for these 2 recommendations! Not only have you saved us $ but TIME as well!
I could just you!!!

With six girls in my house, this is very valuable information. We have tried a million different kinds of brushes over the years, but never been satisfied. The brush I use for my hair I bought twelve years ago ... yes, it has held up that long and I will not part with it. I have never been able to find a replacement. Both of these brushes look promising. Thanks!

We fall into the "really thick hair" camp (although not curly). I just bought a new brush for Helena and only found one among the MANY choices at Target that I thought was acceptable. I go for the hard plastic bristles spaced far apart. Anything actually brushy (like boar bristle) just pulls too much hair out of our heads. Now my husband and son, they can use that kind. I usually put new hairbrushes in Xmas stockings every few years. But this was a "hair emergency" and couldn't wait!!! (Exclamation points courtesy of 9yo girl drama.)

I think I had one of those Denman's when I was a kid!
Our favorite is : Cushion Brush from Avon.
