I thought I could make it through this pregnancy without buying any clothes, but my maternity tops are a mess. Full of stains and just really ratty looking This is my third pregnancy with them, so I should have expected this. I am looking for a good place to get some modest short sleeved tops. Everywhere I look I see all the things I don't want: scoop neck, v-neck (both types seem really revealing on me and I refuse to wear them), tight up top, tight in the belly, too short. The shirts I currently have were from the Target brand In Due Time, which don't seem to be made anymore. They are simply knit cotton t-shirts, with a regular neckline (don't know the name, but the kind where you have to squeeze your head through some), that are cut generously, flaring out some at the bottom to fit the belly nicely. They are plain with no design. I would LOVE to get my hands on more, but they are gone. Is there anyplace out there that makes tops that fit my criteria?? I am so discouraged
Thanks,
Beth

Beth,
You can try JC Penny's. I got some great tops from them a few years back.
Good Luck

I think I tried everywhere online and in stores and the two places that seemed to have the most to offer were JC Penny online (our local store had nothing modest or in cotton--a friend gave me the tip to try online) and KMart. The quality of both was not great, but they at least had options that weren't so low cut. Also, Land's End Large Women's department worked for me as I am not tall (5'2"). So, I could wear some of their tops as maternity shirts. Much better quality fabric, and our Sears frequently has them on sale. However, wouldn't work if you are very tall as they would ride up too high.
Good luck!

All my maternity shopping this time has been done through ebay and thrift stores. I always frequent thrift stores in the more affluent towns as the quality and brands are always better. Consignment shops are also another idea. I've been able to find mid-calf dresses and skirts this way as knee-length just doesn't work for me. It seems most maternity dresses this year are knee-length.

I have a couple of basic v-neck t-shirts from Motherhood Maternity. I got them a couple of pregnancies ago, but I think they still have the basic design. They are the only tops that don't have a low v-cut. I have been wearing them for years, both pregnant and not because they have a nice shape which is loose enough, but doesn't look maternity.
One thing I did was to just pin the other tops I bought together at the v-cut, making it more modest. Kohl's sometimes has pretty, flattering tops if they weren't all so low cut.
A camisole under a top might work too. This site has a really unique idea that I think would work under some of the low cut maternity tops. They have half-camisoles which would go great with a pregnant belly. It would cover you up top without worrying about it continuing to fit.

Molly, I love the Mini Cami on that site you linked too! That would definitely be useful this pregnancy, as I love the layered look and don't like being restricted from buying cute shirts because of the necklines.
Thanks!

I tend to buy regular (not maternity) tops that are in a babydoll or trapeze style.. pretty much a normal fit above the bra strap and loose under it
