Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm nearly 24 weeks pregnant and have been given lots of great maternity clothes--including really pretty stuff for Mass. What I can't seem to find is a nice casual maternity skirt I can wear this summer with sandals as an alternative to capris. I'd like something light, but that I can still get down on the floor and change diapers or play with the kids. Any suggestions?

I highly recommend visiting your local St. Vincent de Paul store and other 2nd hand shops/consignment stores. Check out their Maternity selection, as well as the larger sizes.
And say a prayer before you go, asking Mary to help you find what you are looking for ~ she REALLY pulls through:)

the broomstick style skirts are often long enough and gathered enough that you can just pull the waist above your tummy..

I got one at JC Penney last summer that was great. They don't seem to have it but they do have this one It's pictured dressed up but the fabric is the same as the one I had and I definitely wore mine as a casual skirt. I also wore several Motherhood Maternity skirts last pregnancy and was very happy with them. Looks like they have a few this season that would fit what you're looking for.

I am loving these skirts from Old Navy for everyday summer wear. They are so comfy and have nothing irritating to rub on the belly now that I am in those last huge weeks when everything aggravates you. I think I'll be able to use then quite easily right after baby too.

If you already have skirts you like, you can get a belly band. I wore many of my skirts through my pregnancies and just didn't zip them over my belly. The band covers the gape and fits the skirt under your belly and looks like another shirt layer.

One more suggestion. I looked on Ebay. The one's I found that I really liked were Motherhood Maternity. They were so comfortable, and I was able to find skirts long enough. That can be so difficult There was a style from 2 yrs ago(the ones I purchased(one note, if length of skirt is important to you, make sure to ask the seller how long it is I almost found out the hard way that Motherhood had done the same style skirt in a shorter length the next year!)), that was flattering and cute.I know there was a denim and a cream colored one, like khaki pants. They had like 6 gores I believe. And they fit so nicely everywhere, without being too tight anywhere, KWIM. They still looked nice for these few postpartum months where I could't fit into my "in between" skirts.

HTH
God Bless you and your precious Little One, you are in our Morning Prayers!

And, Nique that's a great idea to pray to Mary for help to find clothes, as we try to adorn ourselves modestly as she did! I also pray to St. Anthony when I go clothes shopping, to help me find good clothes for all, and to honor God with our finances.

And the Belly Band is an awesome idea too! Then you can still wear the skirts you know you like!
