I finally spent my Christmas $$ on a couple of new skirts and a dress from Land's End. I ordered:
Seafoam Dress and
Skirt
and
Skirt.
What shoes should I get to go with these? I don't want traditional pumps. These clothes will be for going to Mass and casual dinners out and for a "dance" at my 20 year reunion this summer. I really like these, are they too casual?
Does anyone have any good ideas? I need a black pair and an offwhite pair of shoes. I DETEST shoe shopping so I would rather do it online. I look at Zappo's and didn't find exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks!
Jennifer

Ha! We must think alike Jennifer. I have those same shoes in black. I bought them last summer, trying for something both feminine but practical. They're not as cute as I envisioned and somehow Land's End shoes never seem to fit my feet properly. They are not all that comfy either. They "feel" like pool shoes, if you know what I mean...sort of plastick-y and bend-y.
Hope that helps.
Kathleen

Jenn--I think we have the same taste! I spent my Bday money on that modal skirt in grey and navy and the mary jane shoes in silver grey and the ballet flats in navy. These are going to be my go-to summer skirts after the baby is born. I really like them.

Glad I checked in--I was just thinking of getting those Lands End shoes. I would personally think them too casual for Mass, dressing up for dinner, or going to a wedding, though. What is your main requirement? You don't want regular pumps--is that because of comfort? Because your style is more fun? Because you don't want to look that dressy? I just found yesterday that Shoe Mall is having a 20% off Mother's Day sale so you might try browsing there.

Well, no pantyhose if I can help it! But I have ugly feet so I'm trying to avoid sandals.

I was thinking no pumps just to be a little more casual, but I don't want to be TOO casual. I want to start wearing more dresses and skirts but I want comfy shoes, too! The one pair I like at Zappos.com had great reviews along the lines of "These were perfect for my 92 yo mother!"

I got these shoes recently and they are actually quite comfy. They go casual and dressy and if you are a size 8 they are on sale at Amazon for $14.99.

I wear these Alice Crocs a lot. Even to Mass . I probably wouldn't wear them to a dance, but they sure would be comfortable! They're on sale now for $19.99. Hmmm, I may have to buy another pair.

I bought those mary janes to wear casually with skirts, but they really make my feet look big and clunky - and I'm not very vain about my feet! LOL! They are just awkward - no other way to describe them. And they run large. I would like something casual to wear with skirts, that would work to hike in even - ride a bike, and do alot of walking. I was looking at the croc mary janes - the alice look nice too...

I don't think those shoes are too casual for Mass with longer dresses/skirts, myself--but then I gave up wearing high heels altogether last year, and don't miss 'em.
I usually wear a pairsomething like this in the fall/winter (but here in TX sandals are pretty necessary for summer). I like that they look like a decent pair of Mary Jane's but are comfortable and I won't "wobble" in them if I have to stand up to sing the Psalm at Mass.
My DD age 12 just bought a pair like this pair, only in a really pretty light linen color (with just a touch of metallic threads in them). They look like a "dressy" cross between a sandal and a closed-toe shoe and she says they're very comfortable--she wears a 9.5 or 10 women's in shoes these days.
Given all the foot problems older women can have from years of high-heel wearing, I decided to prune most of mine and keep just one pair of really dressy sandals for special occasions. Since I haven't worn them in almost a year, I may be getting rid of them, too.

I have these, and LOVE them. They are extremely comfortable, not clunky at all--they're perfect! :)
