Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hey cloth mamas...do you use a diaper sprayer? If so which brand? Is it effective and worth it?

I don't. Everyone keeps raving about them, but I have visions of my 4 yo finding it and the diaper bucket and the unthinkable taking place in my bathroom.

I *have* been using Bummis soft diaper liners and I'm totally in love. Just pull out the liner with the poopy and flush.

I'm not a cloth mommy, but wasn't there a horror story about a diaper sprayer a while back?

Ah, yes, this thread.

Oh, I remember that thread Jenn... I have the same visions as Jennifer!    And really, after 14 years of cloth diapering, I have never seen the need for a sprayer of any sort - I don't even rinse before they go in the pail.

I attached a kitchen sprayer to my toilet. It works great. I also love it for rinsing out the tub as we don't have a shower in that bathroom. You can just go to Lowe's and tell them what you want to do and they will tell you what parts you need to get (I think you will need things like a nipple and maybe a T coupling??). It is very easy to do and I did it myself. We are sure to shut off the water to our house when we go out of town so we don't come home to any water problems. We would do this even if we didn't have the sprayer on the toilet. With the sorts of stools my 2 dds have had, I can't imagine not rinsing them before tossing them in the pail. I did try the liners for a while but they were too much of a hassle for me.

I remember the horror stories. I think I even started that old thread? However, I still have one on my wish list. I have trouble enough getting diapers clean when I do rinse them out first. With low water toilets, it is so much harder to rinse the diapers than in "the old days"! I don't rinse the breastfed baby poops, but those two year old stinkies! I always forget to use the liners that I have.

Anyone ever use the Diaper Duck? I remember trying to wring diapers through that 17 years ago! What a pain! I am pretty sure it doesn't exist anymore.

Thanks ladies...liners do seem like a much safer option in a household of six little boys...who all go through potty playing phases...I forgot about liners for a minute there...it's only been four years since I last used cloth, but my brain has lost a lot of cells since then!

My DH insisted on one if we were going to use cloth (and then kid's sensitive skin made cloth non-negotiable...) I didn't use it much, but DH often did, he liked it, and we never had any problems with it at all....

Colleen...as you look into the liners I just wanted to mention that I've tried the two biggies out there:

Bummis Bio Soft Liners
and
Imse Vimse Liners

I much prefer the Bummis! They are much, much softer than the Imse Vimse.

Can I ask a really stupid question? How is putting in a paper liner any different than using like the organic disposables that don't have the nasty chemicals? Is it just the price that is better (since the 'organic' diapers are on the pricey side? ) I mean, my kids who couldn't tolerate disposables got all red from the liners too....wouldn't the paper liner be...uncomfortable? (I am just thinking about the difference I experienced using cloth vs. disposable for my monthly cycle...and cloth is much more comfortable....)
