Wasn't sure where to put this question??!!!
Anyways, I've been thinking, maybe I'm the only gross one  but I have saved all of my children's baby teeth. I keep each one in an envelope with their name and date and which tooth and how lost. Lately though, because of the ages around here, they seem to be flying out everywhere!
Does anyone else keep their kiddos' teeth? Do you throw them away? I feel weird for some reason tossing them, I'm not sure why. I guess because it's a part of them and I'd be throwing "them" in the trash. I don't know if this makes sense...but I was just wondering what you ladies do with all those teeth???

Well, I tried. But disorganized me, just didn't work -- after 3 kids I gave up. So now we'll find a tooth, and don't even remember whose tooth it was. So if it's important enough to them they save it themselves. Bad mommy, 7-yo just lost a tooth and the tooth fairy didn't even bother showing up.  One can only do so much.

My mother saved my baby teeth. I still have them. So I, in turn, save my children's.
Goodness, I have turned into my mother!!!
Mine are in a little ring box inside my jewelry box.
My older three children's baby teeth are in little sandwich bags, labeled and tugged in the same jewelry box.
Oh, the treasures that jewelry box holds. Priceless only to me. 
I admit to having grown lax with the last two children. Their teeth are in various sandwich bags which they labeled in very childish handwriting:
"Chelsea's tooth" or "Annie's tooth"
The girls got into a trend of labeling a new bag each time and placing their tooth in it under their pillow because they're worried the tooth fairy won't be able to find it. Anyway, the bags have accumulated on my headboard, at my bedside table, on the dresser, and on top of the jewelry box.
I need to get that under control before I lose track of teeth.

I saved them for a while.. because it seemed to be the thing to do.. but then i had all these envelopes tucked into my drawer (the tooth fairy was supposed to have taken them you know)
And I finally asked myself. What am I going to do with them? what would I do with them if my mother had saved them (I was thinking perhaps be annoyed with something else to find a home for) and what would my children do with them.. so I finally just tossed them.

I throw them away. I am totally grossed out by teeth anyway. Tooth fairy has a hard enough time getting them, that is gross enough for me.
EW!
Now if I could find a way to never ever touch another kid tooth that would be great.

Angi.. My kids put their tooth in an envelope.
Soo.. I hold open the envelope, they drop in the tooth.. then the tooth fairy just switches envelopes.. pretty cool because the tooth disappears and the money appears and the envelope is "untouched"

Oh, Kacky, that's hysterical! A couple of years ago, my MIL (who saves everything) came across a small box with my dh's baby teeth! She showed it to me and said, laughing, "I'm guessing you don't want these!" And I said, "no, please throw those away!!"

ps-- I do understand the feeling of throwing a piece of them away-- I have that problem with artwork. #1 hasn't lost a tooth yet, though, so I guess I can't speak wtih experience on this one!

My dd2 was born with an extra thumb we had removed when she was 1. I had no prob throwing that away, so teeth are no problem either. Of course, being disgusted makes it easier.

In the trash they go! I wouldn't want my baby teeth so I doubt my kids will want theirs!

We save our kids' baby teeth. We've got them in ziploc bags but I have to agree that it gets hard to keep track when you've got a lot of kids. We used to be able to keep them apart because the oldest had the most but the teeth seem to be breaking so we're getting extras. My mother kept mine in a glass jar.

we're keeping them. I don't have any of mine from my childhood, but I have some of dh....which is amazing since his mother didn't take photos....
I have acid free baby boxe/cases and I am adding the teeth to a little paper box inside the larger case. We will enjoy looking at them one day...for now the kids don't know where they are.

I tried keeping them separate and labeled and all that, but it was getting ridiculous. Recently I cleaned out my nightstand top drawer and threw them all into a small mason jar (used to hold caramel sauce, sort of appropriate!) just in case some child wants to see them or I figure out some appropriate use for them. Future relics of my little saints?! ha ha
I have some of my own that my mother saved in a little plastic box. It is sort of cute to see how tiny they are. I don't think they are gross, unless they have lots of "stuff" left dried on them.

It seems like we are 50/50 on this thread as to who keeps and who throws away...funny.
Angi I have to attempt when I read your reply, my face scrunched up like "whhaattt", but then it was funny!
Oh and I love how you guys mention the tooth fairy. We don't "do" the tooth fairy here. They know about it from friends, so we still get stuck handing over the $$$. In fact some of them just put their tooth in an envelope, bring me it and my purse and I hand them their buck. They get double dollars for teeth pulled at the dentist.
Anne McD how can your oldest not have lost any yet...wow!!! I thought my son (who matches your son's age) was late!!! Boy, they'll all come out at once, watch out!

That situation arose and I had to think fast. Now the little ones know that the tooth fairy knows that mommy wants those teeth and leaves them by my bedside.

I have to say that the reason I'm so attached to them (besides growing up with a mother who was attached to mine) is that it's such a momenteous event when that first tooth pops up in our baby's mouth. How can we possibly just throw that precious little pearl in the trash? And then you hear of plane crashes and stuff (like that of 9-11) where the families were begging for pieces of anything physical that could be found...yes, even a tooth...and, I guess it's morbid and all, but I do save my children's teeth.
But that's just me...
I cut a curl of my children's hair and tape it in their baby book too.

I was wondering about that too, and asked at his dental checup this week! I was told that they are just barely wiggly, and apparently, boys start later with losing teeth.
So, I'll probably have a toothless wonder on my hands in a few months, eh?

I've saved first teeth, and I think other times (like when DD 11 got a few pulled). The others I throw away. I save locks of first haircuts and other momentous ones (like when we shaved DD's head when her alopecia got to be too widespread). But we don't have enough room in our house (or my brain!) to save every little thing. Sometimes I wish we did - but then again I'm pretty grossed out by teeth too, LOL.

I haven't thrown many away, but I've become quite disorganized so I don't know whose baggie is whose. I think I'll probably just throw out the ones I find.

Duh...maybe that's my answer...do I really need EVERY tooth. There have definitely been those momentous ones, like took the dentist 20 minutes to yank one of my dd's came out shattered even, or the one lost in the apple, or the first ones lost. How many teeth do they lose altogether, this is someplace I fail...so times that by how many kids...whew that's a heck of a lot of teeth.
So maybe I just need to declutter/organize/label the teeth
Oh and Cay I don't think that is morbid at all!!! And it is a precious pearl. Those babies fought hard during teething, like a little trophy.

My oldest dd (7) just lost her first 2 in the last 2 months. She turned 7 in October. She also got her 6 year molars late, right at her 7th b-day.
