Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am just curious, in dealing with the issues of a dd growing up how much does your dh get involved?
For example before my dd gets to the age that it comes up I am reading up on dating guidelines and what our standards and rules will be regarding dating/courtship. Is this something I should just do on my own or is it understandable that I would want my dh to participate in the process as well.

My dh has definite ideas about what our daughter will and won't be able to do...especially after we discovered that two of her 11yo friends (both in public school) have boyfriends!

He wants me to handle "the talk(s)", of course, but he has high standards for attire, etc.

I think a lot of this might have to be translated through mom.. private issues mom really needs to talk to her about.. I can remember how hard it was to talk to just mom.. I can't even imagine if I knew that dad was "in the know" now I suspected he might but since I didn't *know* I could ignore it

But I think for outward things.. especially dating etc.. that the dad's protective side should be at the forefront and a lot of that could come from him.

I already will send one of my girls to dad for approval on something (item of clothing) that isn't obviously over the line.

I second and third what Jodie and Nancy said. This is what happened in my family, anyway. I have no experience in this from a parent-perspective. But, this seems to be how families I know handle it too.

Dad and Mom coming up with "standards" together
Mom having "talks" about more private things
Anything protective, reinforced by dad
