Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please tell me I am not alone. I am on my fourth chronic teether. Slow appearing teething, much teething behaviour before each and every tooth. Certainly none of those "oh look! Junior's popped another tooth out!" moments.

If you have pointers please share them. But if you don't- oh, I'd just like to know I'm not alone!

Well, all mine start drooling and biting everything in sight around 4 months. People always say, "Ooooh, he must be teething!" However, before Joseph, the earliest tooth showed up at 9 months.

For us the sign that the tooth is finally coming is loose stool, but by the time it finally happens, I usually miss it and am surprised by the tooth.

After the teeth are finally in, mine continue to "teethe"
on their clothes until they are 8 or 9.

Are yours fussy for long periods?

hyland's teething tablets.. when it's during a time they're awake those give just enough relief that they can be happy anyway. They don't seem to give enough relief when they're trying to fall asleep and they're having a hard time.. but when it's just minor grumbling it can even work at night. On the really bad grumpy nights.. I admit I give in and give tylenol. Figuring the missed sleep for all of us is probably just as bad

My little guy has been teething for 2 months on and off and more or less and he's only 5 months.

My oldest was playing on the bed with daddy when she was really teething and fell and hit his knee with her mouth.. it popped that upper tooth right through.. a few minutes of crying and we were done.. ever since when they get to that nothing helps, it hurts stage that is just prior to a tooth coming through (can last a week give or take) I often am offering for them to hit daddy's knee with their mouth none have taken me up on that though

I also try and find something they like to chew on.. I wear solid bands of sterling silver bracelts (they're shaped like a C not loose or dangly) and every single one of them have liked chewing on those.. they're very handy during Mass since they're right there on my arm.

My 5 month old just got a squish ball (it's elastic strung through longer "sticks" and balls and balls on sticks..) so things move and rattle and it squishes and is very easy to grab hold of and he's loving that for something to chew on.

I had one child that got a stainless steel shaker lid (like for parmesean cheese shaker) it had nicely rolled edges and was quite safe.. and it was just cool enough that it really felt good and being biger and round wouldn't choke her but the lip let her hold it.. that was one of her favorite teething toys.

Little stuffed animals also.. one chewed on the legs of a little flamingo (they were small in diameter and she could get them into her mouth) and my 2 yr old chewed on the little stuffed people/dolls that I made her.

Basically, we just experiement with all sorts of things and find something that feels good to that child.

My oldest was a chronic teether. She started at about 4 months and continued until her 2 year molars came in. Then when she was working on the 6 year molars, it started again! She was chewing everything, running a fever, crabby, the whole bit - at 6 years old!

I totally feel for you.
