Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Another doll question. My dd 10 has been wanting a baby doll for Christmas, actually a "baby alive" but I was also looking at the Bitty Baby and Visions My First Baby Doll (which is on sale). Question is what is the difference between the Bitty Baby and the My First?

Thanks!

AG's BB is an okay choice, and Goetz dolls, which you can find at liveandlearn.com , are the same body as a Bitty Baby for less money, prettier faces, and hair (the Maxy Muffin). Goetz made BB before AG was bought out. Corolle dolls are also a lovely choice. I would pick a Goetz or a Corolle if you are looking for a baby doll, over an AG BB doll.

I would never, ever send my money to Vision Forum, but that is just me.

We have both Corolle and AG Bitty Babies. I prefer Corolle because the bodies are softer and more poseable. The AG babies are very stiff and can really only lie down, they cannot sit on their own. The Corolle babies are more bean-bag like in the middle and can sit up. At least the ones we have do--I know they make quite a few different types. Bitty Baby has more clothing options and they change frequently, more accessories if you are into collecting the whole shebang.

I have been tempted by some of the Vision Forum catalogs before but I have never ordered--their older girl type dolls don't look as well made as the AG dolls but I haven't seen the catalog for a while, so maybe that's changed. Amazon has good deals on the Corolle dolls often.

We have a Bitty Baby - it's a nice doll. Cute accessories.

We have a lot of Corolle dolls and they are far and away my favorites - soft, sweet smelling, absolutely lovely! Katie sleeps with a soft Corolle doll right now and it is her lovey! Just wanted to drop in and add my preference for Corolle. We also have a Kathy Kruse doll which is very lovely. Sorry, I have no experience with the Vision forum dolls.

ditto!

we have an ebay AG bitty baby, and also a much loved Corolle and Goetz.

I'm actually more impressed with the facial features, body "feel" and hair on the Corolle and Goetz dolls.

I also would never send money to Vision Forum.

We have the Bitty Twins. I have no knowledge of any of the other dolls. And I loved the American Girl dolls so much, they are still in storage!

Ooo, so timely! I was JUST looking at AG bitty babys on ebay.
I'd never heard of Corolle baby dolls -- they are beautiful! But how strong is the vanilla scent in a new doll? As strong as a scented candle?

Vision Forum is an ultraconservative protestant organization that puts out the Beautiful Girlhood Catalogue. They aren't particularly generous toward Catholicism. That said, when AG was sending money to pro Abortion groups, I chose VF for my dd's 6th year birthday present, because I was determined not to support AG. She has held up well, better than our 1 AG doll. The BG baby doll is brand new. I've never seen it. We also have a MaxiMuffin (nice hair but I don't think she's as well made as Bitty) and 3 Bitty's. I've never seen a Corolle doll. We have had no complaints with any of the dolls we own. They are all good dolls. Maybe just take a look at them all and see what you think would most appeal to your dd?

Thanks ladies. I've been busy checking the dolls out and decided on the Lila doll from Corolle. I think dd will be thrilled to have a doll actually suck a bottle and coo and stuff. I would have preferred to get the Corolle doll made in Spain, but Lila's features are what dd is really looking for.     Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this thread!! We have a bitty baby and I was looking for something different for Molly. I bought her a Corolle Tidoo Bright, and I think it will be just perfect!

My very favorite are the Corolle Vanilla Dolls. They are so sweet, a good size, and they do smell like vanilla too.

Out of all my dd's dolls - AG dolls included - these are my personal favorites.
