Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are not big TV watchers. That is slowly changing though.
My ds was complaining(yes, I am an awful mom) that he had no clue who was running for president, or anything about them. He met with some friends today and they were talking about the election. He is 10.
I have been meaning to find sometime to watch the news myself and have been thinking of watching one of the morning shows. They seem "tamer" than the nightly news--at least around here. I might also try noon during lunch once or twice a week. I also have a 5 year old and truly believe she does not necessarily need to see the news.
So, are there any good news programs for ds? Online? I don't have cable. I would let him read the paper-we get the WSJ--but that also opens a whole can of worms.
Before you think I put my head in the sand ALL the time let me explain that I do not watch before election time because I have a media bias. I think they can sensationalize and just put things the way they want. So, my plan is to do my research, mostly online, in a few weeks, concentrating on the issues that matter to me and how the candidates mean to handle them.
There, I feel better having explained myself.
Any ideas would be truly welcome.
Thanks,
Anne

I think there's some stuff for kids at http://www.vote-smart.org even if not *for* kids.. it's a great site to get info from. You might be surprised at how many candidates there are for president.. hardly just the two (or 3 maybe 4) that get news coverage.

We subscribe to the National Catholic Register, and Dh and our 11 and 13 year olds keep up on current events this way.   Dh can filter it, chooses a few articles here and there, has the kids read them, then they discuss. This has worked well for us.
