I was reading Marilyns prayer request for her little guy that swallowed rosary beads (btdt btw!) and I wanted to pass along a little tip that works wonders if you have one (say, a 3 year old boy... ) inclined to put things up his nose. I can't recall where I learned this, but have done it twice now with amazing results!
A few weeks ago, Henry Joe shoved a few bb's up his nose. I set him on my lap, held one nostril shut, and blew - hard into his mouth, forcing the bb's to shoot out of the other nostril! :) Did the same thing about a year ago with the same child and pony beads.

When Annie was a yr old, she put a tiny pink stick-person from the game Life up her nose.
We could see it everytime she breathed out. I was trying to get it with the tweezers and having a hard time.
She sneezed and out it popped.

Our pediatrician recommended that same thing when our dd stuck a pony bead up her nose. He was trying to save us a trip to the Urgent Care or otherwise, since he said there wasn't much he could do for her in the office. It worked! I was surprised, but relieved. Then I thought about it and EWWW Anyway, it works and no one is worse for wear.
God bless,
Christine

Oh, you lucky ones! We spent several hours in the ER when the twins were about 20 mos. They both had severe nosebleeds often and one afternoon at a friend's, I used a paper napkin to "stuff up" the nostril. S kept pushing at it until it was well...gone, into her sinus cavity. They said if it stayed there it would begin to get infected. They removed it with a veeery long handles tweezer sort of tool, and not without a bit of screaming on S's part!
One to remember, I guess, but I'm going to remember Lisa's trick, too. Never know when it might happen again

We tried everything to get a lego out of a kids nose once. Ended up at the ER. The ER nurse said he wasn't their first lego-in-the-nose kid that day. It's common on rainy days. When he came home the older boys called him 'Legoless'.

How about this conversation with my then 4yo dd:
H: Mommy I have a diamond in my ear!
me: Oh that's nice, honey
H: (sounding a bit urgent) No, really, I have a diamond in my ear!
me: (taking a peek) Yes, you do. How did that get there?
H: I put it there!
A visit to the pediatrician and on to the pediatric ear specialist to flush out the "diamond" (I wish I had a diamond as large as that rhinestone she stuck in there! )
