Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi ladies,

I'm going in tomorrow morning for a blood test to measure my progesterone levels. We lost a baby in March and another last month, and I know from charting I have a short luteal phase. I just did a search of the archives here and followed a link that said there'd be enough hcg in my blood by tomorrow (day 22, and I usually have 27 day cycles) to tell if I'm pregnant now. Does that sound right? I thought we'd just be checking my progesterone levels, I had no idea it's possible tomorrow (or when the results come in) to even know if we're pregnant!

This is all so new to me--our first six were conceived without any real delay or complication. For as much as I've read about the benefits of progesterone cream, I've found just as much that says it doesn't work. I'm trying so hard to focus on accepting God's will for our family and not how badly I want to have another baby! But here I am again, at that point in my cycle where I'm counting the days left, figuring when my period would start, when I could take a pregnancy test, when a baby conceived this cycle would be born and whose feast day he/she would share. Am I nuts? All those years where I would feel overwhelmed and scared about all my fertile years left, and here I am at just shy of 39 mourning that my child-bearing years may be coming to an end. Sigh...

Thanks for listening !

If you're nuts, then so am I.

Praying for you!

Molly, I am with you! It takes alot of work for me to get pg and sustain a baby. I started taking a low dose of natural compounded progesterone on peak plus three til I would notice some spotting (then I would not take it and my period would start)for over a year now. the cream did nothing for me. my luteal phase would be 5 or 6 days!
If I think there is even a remote chance I am pg, I just keep taking the progesterone and take a dollar store test ASAP.
praying for you!
PS- I am "only" 37- and just the first baby- born when I had just turned 22!! was an easy breezy conception/pregnancy/postpartum.
It can get discouraging when we feel we are doing everything "right" nutritionally, excercise, etc, and yet our bodies don;t work as we would like them to ....

I went through this whole rigamarole with my latest, Peter---- "shooting" myself with the Natural Prog. and testing blood levels acc. to Dr. Hilgers' protocol (and thanks be to God, here he is and my levels rose normally). It is all too fresh in my memory, and I am thinking of you with empathy. Praying and sending love and hugs!

Oh, Molly...

I've been having problems with this pregnancy that I have not had with any others...had a dr's apptmt this morning, and baby is fine, but the midwife is putting me on progesterone suppositories, in case. I've been using NPC since I first realized I ovulated (which was a total surprise, since I generally only do it once a year on average, thank you PCOS ). That may not be enough this go round, so while wee one is doing fine right now (hb 150, wiggling and waving and saying "Hey mom! I'm right here!", we want to be sure. I've been spotting and bleeding for no apparent reason, and so I'm on the hormones for a month or so, and light duty til it (the bleeding) stops.

I will be praying for you. I don't know a thing about early blood hcg tests...sorry I cannot help in that way...

((HUGS)) and prayers...

Rachel

Molly, Praying that all is well with the blood work!

I'm a firm believer in checking and checking early and my little John Paul and Katie are a direct result of intervening early and supplementing my low/dropping progesterone count with progesterone suppositories (I was too sick to take it any other way).

I can identify with all of your thoughts...I don't think you'll find a single person here who thinks you're nuts!

Praying for you with so much empathy!
