Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

talk about what they want to be when they grow up? My oldest son is a planner. He wants to know the whats and whens of everything, so I think maybe that is why he is so intent on figuring out what he wants to do with his life at 12 years old.

He is really into earth sciences (does plant experiments, soil experiments, etc). He announced the other day that he was going to be a Botanist when he grew up...which caused my 2 year old to say, "I go be a bow-tie-ness too." LOL Anyway, I want to encourage this but I don't want him to become completely singleminded at this stage either.

What do you all think?

I just quietly encourage any interest they have (never know when God is planting a seed in a heart!) and say something like, "I think that sounds great and I just want whatever God wants of you, so make sure you talk to Him about these plans, too!"

Me too. God does call some people early and clearly to their work. Others need to wait much longer. In the mean time, your family life offers plenty of broadness for your son to learn from and enjoy.

Love,
