Anyone have this problem? I don't mean the dc, I mean mom? I have a problem (depending on the time of the month ) with getting all upset over the littlest things. Spills (usually from being silly, or careless) or accidents drive me nuts. I try to keep a lid on it (but sometimes dont), but it seems to be getting worse with age. Why does it bother me so? I have been praying about it and the only thing I can think of is that I am upset because it makes more work for me. Last night dd and I were cooking eggs. She wanted a chance to practice cracking eggs. She was having a hard time and going very slow. I already had the pan heated( usually I turn it very low until all the eggs are poured in, but I was in a rush and not really paying attention) and when she poured her first egg in the pan was very hot. (i was also doing something else--mistake #1) I quickly ran over to stir it while she cracked another egg, but by the time she got it done, the first egg was already cooked. I began fuming out loud, at myself, but she took it personally. She ran off and cried and said she felt like it was her fault. Why on earth would I get so upset about burnt eggs? I can't seem to keep a lid on some of my emotions. I feel like a hormonal teen all over again in a 42 year old body.

I react to very little stimulus when I've reached overload, where 'it's all too much'. For me, it's a signal that I'm not taking very necessary Woman Time; when I get to this point, my family is more than happy to give me the time.
I hope you're feeling better soon.

I do it, too much. I know things are bad when the kids start screaming at the little things. They are just reflecting my behavior. It's always a wake-up call. Things have been less than charitable and rational around here lately. I need to pray and work on changing the tone.

I think that I get this way too when I have too many things needing my attention at once. I get frazzled. It is so hard.

LLMom, I will be turning 41 this month and I have been this way for a few years but it has only been the last year that I noticed there is a monthly pattern. I can put it on the calendar when I will be this way, and as a matter of fact for the past two months I have been drawing jagged lines on the days of the month that I will be this way (sympolizing my sharp tongue). I'm thinking maybe if I know it's coming I can stop it before it happens. So far, this month, it did help.
I know how it is It's so hard and my poor kids have to put up with me when this happens every month. For the rest of the month I'm fine, fun to be with actually, but for a few days Look Out!! LOL
Anyway, by charting it on my calendar and praying about it I'm hoping to solve this problem.
Good Luck!!

I think you might find it helpful to take some time on a weekly basis away from the kids where you can recharge. We all need breaks, and I've found that if I don't take them I'm less patient with the kids and the little things start to get to me.

I do know what you mean. Dh can tell what time of the month it is based on my emotional reaction to things. That did not used to be true. I think it was Marilyn (a forum member) who recently mentioned that her doctor told her that this sort of thing gets worse for a few years during our early 40s. I have no idea why because she said it is not related to premenopause necessarily. But I take hope in the fact that it shouldn't be so bad forever!
