My husband has always left his underwear on when swimming, with either a swimsuit or shorts, and I have always thought it was kind of strange. I don't go swimming with my bra under my suit.

Now some of my boys follow his lead and some don't. I actually have to tell them to pull up their swimsuit because their drawers are showing. To my way of thinking, this is really weird.

But then I have a day like today. I actually asked my husband if it is possible to swim in a jock strap because they are getting to the age where they could use a bit more control than a loose pair of shorts provides.

Would it really be so strange to ask all the boys to wear their undies while swimming? Would that give them the support they are starting to need or should I look for the tight Speedo type suit to wear under the shorts? Any ideas?

My men's swim suits have a sort-of "shelf underwear" inside that they find sufficient. I know one man who has worn a jockstrap under a bathing suit, so that option can work at well.

My sources tell me that there is such as thing as a swimmer's cup or it might be called a swimmer's jock. Apparently it's what Christopher Reeve wore as Superman. They are different from regular jocks.

My dh wears one of those Speedo racing suits under his swim shorts. Gosh, this is personal. Don't tell him I told you.

Teehee, I was just thinking the boys could start a new trend. They could wear a speedo under their swim trunks and let the top of it stick out, you know, how the kids sometimes wear their shorts too low so their undies stick out? (which I find totally ridiculous by the way!!) They could just act like they were "in style" and pretty soon all the boys would be wearing them that way!
Leave it to the homeschoolers to start a new fashion trend!

That would be funny. Seriously though, dh's never shows--so maybe he has a really skimpy one?
OR he has the hips those younger guys don't--ds's shorts used to always fall down!

With three males in the house (plus a male cat, but he doesn't swim, and a male fish, but he doesn't wear a swim suit), I wash a lot of boys' and mens' swimwear -- all of them have built in "support" for that area, sort of like mesh underwear.

Unrelated, I am so totally outnumbered .... wow.

speedo type suits are cut at the hip.. not at the waist.. you won't see them above the waist of a pair of shorts type trunks unless those are riding so low as to be off

Now.. you could get the jammer style speedos and have them show below the leg of the shorts style.. that's a typical style to see around here for swim team since the boys all wear jammers.. and usually pull a pair of shorts over the top when not in the water for long periods of time.
