Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has this ever happened to anyone before? I only gained 20 pounds so far in this pregnancy. I haven't gained one ounce and, in fact, have *lost* a couple of pounds since the 28 week mark. I am now 33 weeks. The doctor tells me that as long as the uterus is still growing, everything's going fine ... so I'm not worrying. It's just weird. I seem to remember gaining until I just about popped at 37 or 38 weeks with the other kids.

If I lose 35 pounds after this baby, I'll be dancing a happy dance!

I know Maryan lost some weight as she got closer to the end of her pregnancy several months ago...maybe she'll be able to chime in here too.

I have been gaining (and so has baby!). I was starting to cut back on my eating because I thought I was contributing to the baby's gain. But my ob (and dh too) assured me that a baby is going to take what they want, irregardless of what you do. That's why people like Nicole Ritchie who weighed less than 100 lbs in the first place can have healthy normal weight babies.

I also have a good friend who told me she only gained 9 lbs with her last pregnancy because she always has gestational diabetes from the start. So she watched her diet. But the baby was 8lbs 10oz when she was born...again baby took what it wanted.

Anyhoo...that's my 2 cents...for what it's worth

Oh and what is your due date...I am 33 weeks tomorrow!!! Slightly nervous too because baby#5 was born at 33 weeks and with baby #6 I was put on bedrest at 33 weeks...so hoping for a good couple of weeks ahead!

I often got to the end of my pregnancies weighing less than at the beginning--I called it my pregnancy diet -all my full term babies were between 9 and 10 pounds-so I guess it wasn't a problem for me or the babies.

With my last, I only gained 5lbs during the entire pregnancy. By the end, I actually weighed less than before pregnancy.

Strange for me, but Teresa was over 7lbs. (previous pregnancies where I gained at least 30lbs) I think it was because I started overweight and was extra conscious of what went into my mouth.

There's different patterns to weight gain in pregnancy.. as long as you're getting good nutrition for you and the baby (won't be good to have a healthy baby and a sick malnurished mom) then the weight gain (or loss) usually takes care of itself.

Whoa! OK, I gained 20 pounds so far this pregnancy. And I guess I'm 33 weeks on Saturday (I never was very good at math, especially not during pregnancy).

I had only my first baby 6 days early. The rest of my kids were ALL late ~ from 3 days to 2 weeks. This baby finally put her head down this past week.

Thanks for all the reassurances ladies.

God bless,

That has happened to me! I gain nothing the first trimester (morning sickness). Pack it on in the second. And then sometimes slow to nothing or actually lose in the third. As long as the baby is growing and the doctor agrees, you are probably doing just fine. But, if it makes you feel better, have a hot fudge sundae!

I've only gained 24 pounds with each pregnancy - and I start out underweight with all of them, to boot. Like Mary, I gain most of that weight during the second trimester and don't put on a pound a week during the third like I'm "supposed to". I have small babies (6lb 2oz to 6lb 11oz), but they've all been healthy!

Hey, I'm 33 weeks too! I've gained 18 pounds so far because I have GD and my diet is different than what I normally eat. It sounds like nothing to me because I used to gain 40+ pounds with the first couple of pregnancies. Of course, I started out lighter back then, so I feel huge right now. I did lose weight at the end of my second pregnancy because I stopped eating sugar in the last two months and the baby was just fine.
