Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Okay, we need some advice from those with older boys (or anyone else who has an opinion is fine too!)

My ds9 has Asperger's, which is often considered on the autistic spectrum. He is a sweet angel of a timid boy, still readily holding Mom's hand, snuggling with Dad, etc. He is VERY literal minded, thinks with a Science/Math-Brain, if you KWIM. Very systematic, organized, reasoned, logical.

But very, very socially awkward, very much "younger than 9" emotionally/socially.

So, he comes in today and asks me, "Ya know, when a lady has a baby in her stomach? <insert me thinking 'uh-oh' right about now> Where do the babies come out from?"

I answered, OH-so-eloquently (!!!!) "You will have to ask your Dad about that." (Dad wasn't available to ask at the time.)

He hasn't brought it up again, but that means nothing, as since Dad isn't home, and he knows he needs to ask Dad, he wouldn't bring it up again. That's just the way he is.

He has never asked about "this stuff" before. Ever.

Any good advice? And....(I can't believe I am asking this, what a total goober I am being!) ...if ALL he wants to know is where they come out of, does he NEED to be told how they get IN if he isn't asking about it?

He absolutely does NOT need to know how they get in

And with his age.. I'd probably just tell him there's a special opening that stretches out to let the baby come out when a mom is in labor.

And stop right there without elaborating on location.

He may just want to know that the baby doesn't pop through the stomach wall like an alien or something
