Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Now I have 2 playing soccer. I also have an 18 month old. So how do I keep her happy at the game? Of course all she wants to do is walk around....on the field, in the puddles. Not to mention she's teeny so all those people walking around may not see her and I worry about her getting knocked to the ground. My older kids were so helpful today, but it does get tiresome for them and I know my daughter really wants them to watch her play too. Maybe I'm hoping for too much...is there something I can do to help her pass the time on the fields.

I'm afraid I'm no help. I give my 18 mo old a ball... spend the rest of the time chasing after him. It's a good weight loss program. But... I hardly get to see any of the Seton games. And I love to watch.

HA!! if you figure it out, lmk!! ds # 3 grew up toddling around the perimeter of the soccer fields with the practice balls, and now he has surpassed his older two brothers in skill and is travelling year round.

I just assume that I won't see the games, dh is gone out of town every weekend so with Elizabeth F's encouragement a few years ago I let go of alot of expectations. I'll send my kids with other families to their games, I'll sit in the car with a tired or cranky kid , or even drive around and come back at half time. I've tried all kinds of snacks, travel games, etc. Now I pack light rather than complicated, and just basically chase around. (it just was more of a pain to pack up scattered toys and activities anyway)

the BACKPACK! carrier was a big help until dd turned about 2 1/2, I'd be sore and tired, but at least I did not loose her only to hear her lock herself in the porta potty or run out onto the field of a U18 game with her dress pulled up over her head

I don't know where you are in Virginia, but in NOVA (Springfield, Annandale, Fairfax area) there is a homeschool soccer league that my family is involved in called FISHE. It is an ecumenical league, and they meet on Wednesdays from 1-3:30 and there is a team for every member of the family, so all of my kids have somewhere to go. The 15-5 year olds each play on different teams and the 3 and 1 year old are in a babysitting area! The season has already started for this year, but if you are anywhere near hear, I would highly recommend it for the fall season!

Other than that I have no suggestion other than a leash...(just kidding)...(sort of!)

At 18 months I still put them in a carrier like the Ergo. It's just too hard to keep them off the field. If there is a park nearby I hire my 16 year old to take the younger kids over and play for a while. There's always the bribe of the soccer "snack" after the game when they get old enough for that. ;)

Thanks everyone...we're doing fine so far. I figured like everyone said we just have to all pitch in, take turns. We were on the fields for 4 hours on Saturday (2 games). We took our rolling cooler full of a good lunch and lots of snacks and water and we all survived and actually had a very pleasant day as a family. A big thanks to my husband who actually hates being outside most of the time. The worst was a wee bit of sunburn, because of course, with all other careful planning, sunscreen and hats didn't fit into my head...now we are totally ready for next week.
