Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Firstly some exciting news, we are expecting another Gift from Goddue 22nd September, a Spring Baby! God is indeed gracious

Thankfully most of our family members have been excited and positive, we are indeed blessed I know. Anyhow last night I was sharing with my sister how I think my grandmother is not thrilled as she ignored my news entirely and changed the subject. Anyhow my sister says "I know how she feels, perhaps she worries, I do" I reassure her there is no need, I have great health. She says "But you have little support" thinking she means extended family I reassure her I have dh and dc's help. She then says "They don't help much"!!!??? How she has formed this judgment I can't see considering that she has visited three times in the last five years. I know she loves me, I know she worries, I know she is young (27) and single (until recently, only married two weeks ago) so I decided to educate her

I wrote this post in honour of my dh and all Christian husbands and fathers. Change a few personal details and this post is about many of our husbands here. I wrote this postin praise of my children, once again this is many of your children.

At the conclusion of our discussion (where I didn't say much as I was too busy being 'gobsmacked' ) I assured my sister that whilst motherhood was work, it bought many joys. I could sense I didn't convince her. Stay tuned as I may yet write a post in 'Defence of Motherhood' after all big sisters do have a duty to educate their younger sisters.

Well said Erin, Bravo!

I have to admit, the Spring baby comment had me for a couple of minutes. We have Sept 21st baby, and I thought hmmmmmmm, "his b-day is in the beginning of fall"

Congratulations, that is Frodo and Bilbo's birthday. Think of the fun birthday parties you could all have.

Erin -- been there, done that! Prayers for the conversion to the "bright side" for all families who have homeschooling relatives ... maybe if we could convert them we could begin to convert the politicians and others who think they know better!

And congrats and prayers for the newest little one ... we'll have to find you a literary link for 8! Aussies!

Congratulations again, Erin! I'm just so happy for you.

And I just think your sister is projecting. She's now in the driver seat for her own family decisions (with her husband, of course) and she's probably weighing all this for her own life.

I did wonder if I would throw anyone.

I have been pondering this. Or maybe doing something to the banner, like writing something in smaller words.
Or I could go for an eight literary theme but not necessarily Australian as that could be limiting. I could keep the same URL I think but just change the name. My little brother asked me at the time when I came up with the name what I would do if I had more children.

Leonie, do you know of any 'Eight Aussie books'?

You could just put "plus one" in parenthesis after the title.

Oh Erin -- YAY!!!!! How wonderful for you and your family - another precious little!!! We share your joy.

Right there with you struggling with the family. It is hard sometimes! You can imagine how worried my family is with our gigantic family of 4 children.

I'm terrible at handling it! Prayers from me on that front!

Congratulations!

(and yes, Jennifer, my family thinks 4 is an outragous number, too! I love your new baby's name, by the way -- my oldest daughter's middle name is Katharine. I adore that spelling of an always-beautiful name)

My two oldest kids recently told me a funny story about my mother, with whom we went to the beach last September. We were driving down in different cars, and the big kids were riding with my mother through southern Mississippi when she suddenly remarked out of the blue, "With all this overpopulation, it's so nice to see these empty fields!"

My kids did what I usually do, which was just to look at her and think, "I love you, but where on earth do these utterances come from?" We have had lots of conversations with our olders on the theme of how we love, respect, and honor Grammy, but also recognize that she has believed some things which just aren't true, and is really not interested in our perspective . . .

We pray for her and smile a lot.

Sally

They are indeed, wonderful postings on those you love most in the world, Erin - what a blessing!

So hard when you have to deal with the poor remarks (or lack of them... ) I have been through similar things with a couple of relatives in the past and it is a cross. You can only offer a prayer for them, because words don't really make much difference, you can only hope and pray that grace will.

You are so blessed to be expecting baby number 8, it is something you continue to relish with great love and thanksgiving the older you get as the true realities of life and the next world speak louder and clearer to you every day.
