Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Have any of your babies been this way?

My 2 week old WON'T go to sleep till 2am every night and then she sleeps till 12pm (just waking to nurse). Yeah, it's nice in the morning, but my toddler is up by 7am so . . .
I am so tired I feel ready to cry every night as the clock passes midnight, then one, then two and she's still wide awake.

How have any of you gotten a baby to get on a normal night/ day schedule?
I know she's young still, but every night is solidifying the habit, right?

Thanks!

Mary Theresa,
Congratulations! I missed the announcement, somehow.
I don't know that I have a whole lot to offer (except loads of empathy). What I've done is to keep that baby with me and totally into to the action of the day during the day. If my toddler got me up at seven, and I thought seven a good time for this baby to be waking, then I'd pluck her up and wear her in a sling or put her infant seat in the middle of breakfast prep. She might sleep through it all, but I think that eventually, her body began to understand that the dark, quiet times were for sleeping and the light, active times were for waking. The exception during the day were times that I wanted to be official naptimes eventually.
At night, if she was wakeful, I'd try to avoid getting out of bed. No sitting up rocking, no walking the floors if at all possible. NO lights. I'd nurse her all she wanted in bed, but bed was where we were staying.Of course, if she's screaming and all that will console is to get up, than I'd do that, but you get the idea. Just pull her into the rhythm of your family.
God bless you! Sleep deprivation stinks.

I second what Elizabeth shared. I kept dd with me ALL DAY. Even when she did nap during the day she was in the "thick" of it all, napping in the stroller in the kitchen, sling, on the floor on a blanket. After a few weeks she "got it."
All the best to you, tired is tough...

I have a 3mo and that is what we did. She was in the living room most of the day where it was pretty noisy most of the time. She still slept through it but at night, i'd put her in the bassinet and it would be completely dark and quiet. This helped her differentiate between day and night. We did this from the beginning. I did this with my other kids as well.
