Anyone have any tips on highchairs? We had a pretty wooden one that fell apart.  I picked up one I really really like at the thrift store after the wooden one broke. It's a Graco, and has a removable cover and it's very cushie! The problem I'm having is room for 2 highchairs.
Molly still really needs one, she's a very very petite 19 month old. There is NO room for another highchair in our kitchen or diningroom. Someone suggested a BUMBO for Mark, I read rave reviews on them, I spent the money on one, and it simply doesn't work for MB, he's got some massive thighs that can't even be wedged in the thing! LOL! (If anyone is interested in a next to new BUMBO seat, pm me!! LOL!) So I'm thinking about a chair that clips on the the table. Does anyone own one or have any opinioins on them? Thanks!

I'm getting rid of my highchair for one of thesefor one of these
I hate tring to clean out all the little nooks and crannies in a highchair, and I'm in agreement, Lisa-- they take up too much room!
ps-- a friend got a bumbo for her little guy, and when she took a good look at his fat little legs a few minutes after she put him in it, she realized they were turning blue!

We have a teeny tiny house, and the high chair was taking up so much room! We got one of these and it worked great. it strapped right to the chair, the height was adjustable, and could be used with or with the tray.

Anne, I was actually at Target this morning looking for that very chair, but they only carry it online. Laura, I've looked at the one you linked too, but with 11 people in the house, I was hopoing not to take up any chairs. Thanks!

We've never owned a high chair, just boosters of various kinds that strapped onto chairs, and the clip-to-the-table variety. I like having the baby right at the table with the rest of us, and we've never lived anywhere where we really had room for a separate high chair anyway.

PS -- I really liked my clip-to-the-table seats. They were the basic gore-tex-fabric type, and while they got pretty gummy along the way, I could put them in the dishwasher to clean them, and they were good as new. I would screw them on with a placemat under the clips, so that the tabletop was somewhat protected, and I didn't have to worry about scouring up smeared-on food. That was at least as easy as a tray, and more secure than just putting down a placemat in front of a child in a booster.

I love our Svan chair - it is beautiful, easy to clean, and converts to an adult chair.

We have a wooden one from Ikea that isn't on their website. It is the trimmest one I've ever encountered, works great, looks nice (only the tray is plastic), and the tray is removable so that it can go up to the table.
I'd say that the legs at the base take up about 15 inches square, but the top is quite a small chair--so it feels much smaller.
Our home is quite small with a small dining room. If I need more than one high chair, I will definitely be buying another just like it.

I don't know if you are near an ikea, but they have the most perfect highchair ever invented, imho. It's simple, durable, cheap, easy to clean, and doesn't take up half the dining room.
I went through very nearly a highchair with each baby because they were so poorly made and none were very user friendly.
Here's the one we have. Antilop is the name of it and we absolutely love it.

The one we have takes up a bit less space than the Antilop--it also costs a bit more (I am thinking we paid around $35-40).
Part of the reason I went with the wood is because, in my small home, there is no hiding something big and plastic and I wanted something I didn't feel the need to hide. BUT, a friend has the Antilop, and for anyone planning the plastic chair route anyway, it really is a great high-chair and super economical.

I bought one of these from Phil & Teds. It's called a Me Too. We had a clunky, crusty old wooden one that has seen better days and is taking up much needed floor space in the kitchen. This little attatchable chair is so compact and we LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It also has the added bonus of keeping herself seated. She'd turned into a regular Houdini in the high chair, preferring to eat standing up in her seat and giving her mother fainting spells.
It has a 5 point harness which I think is a bonus.
It was on the pricey side, but I think it's worth it.

For a child who's still too small for a regular chair, but doesn't need to be strapped in, you might consider a youth chair, if you can find one (a high-chair-height chair that pushes up to the table like a regular chair, with no tray). Or a bar stool with a back. My brother made us a youth chair before our youngest was born, and though the seat -- woven Shaker-style cotton webbing -- has had to be replaced at least once, we have used it continually. My 4yo still sits in it and prefers it to any other chair. It also scoot up under our breakfast bar, so we can use it as a bar stool. Our 5yo sat in this chair from the time he was 18 months old or so, until he decided he wanted to sit in a "big" chair, and the now-4yo, who was probably not even 18 months at the time, moved into it. She quickly learned not to fall out of it!
Anyway, another thought, if you'd like a chair that you could keep on using forever.

I really like the clip-to-the-table high chair idea, but I've hesitated to buy one thinking that it wouldn't work with a table like ours that has an apron (table apron). Do any of you that have the clip-on type have an apron on your table? Is it a problem at all? Thanks!

Thanks everyone! I was going to go with the Phil and Ted's, but the expense made me hesitate ~ then I read all of the reviews and the Regalo Clip On High Chair received equally positive ratings and the reviews, and it is half the price! Dh ordered 2, one for the kitchen table and one for the dining. They are really great, 5 point harness, nice high back, both Mark and Molly sit wonderfully in them and they don't take up any floor space.
Kelly, both of our tables have an apron, and these work fine. We have about 2" of tabletop before the apron.

Thanks Lisa! Do you think the apron will interfere with the little ones' legs? That's been one of my concerns with the apron.
