Have any of you gotten frustrated at how "grown up" little girl's clothes are?
I have just run into this now as my daughter is wearing 2Ts. It makes me so annoyed. I want her to look like the little girl she still is -- but the ruffles and the smocking and the puffed sleeves and . . . you know, all that cute stuff -- all are harder and harder to find as her size gets bigger.
I see mini skirts and hoodies and jean jackets and striped sweaters and flared pants -- not that they are bad, but they are just mini adult clothes. 
I guess this is just a venting post.  Any suggestions of brands or companys that still have little girl clothes? I was looking at Land's End. They still have cute dresses -- but their pants and tops can be adult styled too.

I have the EXACT same concerns that you do.
Believe it or not, I have had the best success at thrift stores. I can usually find dresses, skirts and just little girl clothes. There is some inappropriate clothes there too but hanging on those racks, I always find something really pretty! 
Also, I pray before I shop that God will send me clothes for my daughters that are glorifying to Him.

YES!!!! yes, yes, yes. Ugh!
I end up buying a lot of the re-sale custom clothes on Ebay, or European brands (also on ebay, and also used, so it isn't too expensive.) Bishops style dresses are an absolute favorite of mine.
That was also why I started making the hairbows for my daughter....just so she could look like a little girl, for goodness sake!

When my dd went from a 6X to a 7 last fall I had to get my sewing machine repaired and started making some clothes. At a size 7 they are wearing the same clothes as a 12 year old girl. As you said it's just mini adult clothes. Not only that but for a petite 9 yo she is wearing an XL shirt, otherwise it is extremely tight and/or short exposing the tummy. At this rate she will be in the junior sizes at age 10.
Right now I am looking at the school uniform clothes from Lands End. There's a nice long skirt in there and some ruffly blouses. I've also figured out that I can order her a slim 10 for the same waist as a 7, therefore getting a longer skirt. It's ridiculous.

French Toast also has uniform shirts with the puffy sleeves, and skirts that come to the knee. My daughter also has some of the "Catholic Plaid" skorts from there which look cute but are good for the playground.
They are quite a bit cheaper in price.

YES! And it only gets worse.
My MIL does most of the kids shopping, it's a hobby of hers, lol. She tends to stick to thrift stores and Goodwill, and she finds lots of cute stuff. Now that dd is 8, it's gotten nearly impossible to find cutesy little girl clothes though.

CWD Kids is a great website for little kid clothes. Their motto has something to do with this whole idea of dressing kids like kids.

I totally agree. I never had to deal with this with my older two- they were boys! One thing that has helped with dd is that she is very small, so at age6, she's still wearing some 4's and even a few 3T's! But you're right, even the smaller sizes are getting to be ridiculous! I used to have access to a great consignment sale twice a year (anyone in the Atlanta area should check out www.kidsignments.com) for most of her clothes, but now that we've moved to Maryland I'll have to look harder. I do sew, so that's part of her wardrobe, but unfortunately I just haven't had time to make a lot of it.

We've had this problem. My oldest dd is a 7 yr old. Slim with long legs...which means she needs a size 6 for a waist, but a 7-8 AT LEAST in length. It is rough. Like most of the others, I have found my best successes for clothes in thrift stores, consignment shops, ebay...
New? I hit Land's End. Clearance and Overstocks.
But I'll take good, decent clothes from just about anywhere I can find them. I'm buying ahead right now.
ACtually, one brand that I have found that is pretty consistently "decent", is Christie Brooks. Don't know if that helps, but even the size 10 things I have gotten are good.

Ugh...it only gets worse...my oldest dd is going to be 11 and is pretty much out of the girls clothing sizes...the Jr's dept scares the bejeebers outta me.
I hunt down catalogue items, check resale, and I have also had some luck in women's petites departments (the clothes are not as tight in women's clothing as they are in the jr's). I save girls clothes and I buy quality, knowing that there are 2 sisters who are going to need modest clothes too and frankly, I only expect it to get worse each year...

Thanks, everyone for the suggestions. It has been best to shop second hand. We have a terrible lack of second hand stores that are within a hour from me. But I really try to when I can.

Alice, thank you for the beautiful thought of praying before i look -- that really struck me. Because of course He wants my daughter to be well and appropriately dressed too.
I know it will only get worse. In a way, I see it as so symptomatic of our society. It must be very important to the devil to rob children of their childhood because he is trying all sorts of ways isn't he?

I ahve a 2T-3T daughter. so far 90% of her clothes come from ebay or consignment stores- Hanna Andersson or Lands End. I buy the off season in lots usually and it is not too expensive. then, I am reselling it all back for the most part and making at least 50% of my money back!!
the stuff in the stores is horrible for the most part after 24 mo. really depressing

PS- I have to laugh because after typing the above I turned to see dd dressed in a black long sleeved "skeleton" halloween T and some baby gap flare leg patchwork heart embroidered jeans a friend gave us- with her cat eye sunglasses on....the edgy look for 2 y/o girls??

A cute brand that I have had a lot of luck with your little girls like your daughter is Samara...cute jumpers...lots of seersucker for summer with cute bloomers. My girls wore gobs of that stuff when they were little. I just saw the cutest Polly Flinders dress at a resale shop...lovely smocking...for $3...but even my small-ish 5 year old was too big for it
Good Luck! As others have said, as hard as it is now for you....wait til you hit the 7-14 and bigger. It's horrible. Buy ahead!

My dd is 10 but very tall and slim. She loves to wear skirts every day. I find the stuff in stores for her age just downright awful. Just trying to find her a long sleeve shirt that doesn't say some ridiculous thing on the front is so difficult.
We mostly hit the second hand stores. I did find her a nice shirt the other day, and if I can swing it, I will buy few more if they go on sale. They were at our grocery store Superstore and are Joe brand (for any of you Canucks out there). They were very pretty, which my daughter loves.
I am getting out the sewing machine this afternoon to try and do her up a skirt. We just can't seem to find anything right now that is pretty and modest- and this is what my daughter likes to wear! (I am so thankful for that).
