Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I had my second miscarriage at the begining of July and I'm still lightly bleeding from it. Is this normal? My first one was fairly uneventful physically and this one was much more physically demanding and kind of intense for awhile.

My doctor is very nonchallant about everything and I don't know if this is good or if I should be more persistent with getting this resolved in some way.

Thanks so much. I'm sorry to have to ask about things that people just would rather not remember.

Julia, you don't EVER have to be sorry for asking questions here.

I had a similar experience and it finally subsided after about a month. It was like a really long period after the major blood and baby had passed, and at the time I was concerned, but am relieved to say that it DID subside and I went on to have my third, then fourth child with no miscarriages since. I did have another very unusually long period about six months after my 4th was born and I'm still wondering if it was a very early miscarriage. I don't know if this helps you at all, but if you are VERY concerned, I would seek out another medical source, different DR, etc.
My heart goes out to you and hope that you are finding some peace and consolation. God Bless you!

It's so hard isn't it when doctors don't seem to be nearly as concerned as we are with things. I have had 3 miscarriages in the past year and each were really pretty different. Unfortunately, I'd say that the length of time you have had some bleeding, at least with my experience, is not unusual. It really stinks having to wait this out. It's so hard, because it's something that as much as you want it to be over (the bleeding) you really never wanted it over...does that make sense? It's such a tangle of emotions.

Anyways, I will keep you in my prayers and my short of it is...as long as your bleeding is light and no pain and no smell (I know, lovely thought ) then you probably just have to wait it out. But like Meredith said, seek the medical source if you get really concerned, and really force them to listen...I know I've said "I know you'll think I'm crazy, but I really want to be checked" and they have accomodated me...so far!

HTH

Meredith and Kacky,
Thanks so much for easing my mind. It's one of those things that I am beginning to understand that God just wants me to live with it for awhile and not pass into the next phase of healing just yet. It's hard to accept how little control we really have over the outcome and how little control we have over how long we have to deal with the process of letting go.

I know what you mean Kacky about wanting it over, but not sure how to want it over just yet.

Meredith you always have such a warmth that just reading your response is like getting a big hug.

Thank you both.

Julia,

I have had 5 miscarriages and several of them took this long so I would say your experience is normal. take good care of yourself. I am so sorry for your loss.
