Ya'll are definitely the folks to ask...
Is there ANY way barring surgery of losing that "flap"? You know, the one that makes you have to wear clothes three sizes too big, since your hips measurement is huge, and your waist is not at all in proportion?
Sometimes, a large paper cutter seems like it might work--you know, slam it down, have a dr stitch it up--all would be well with the world, right?
Ok, no, I know it wouldn't be, but still. SIGH. Wonder how much it would/will cost to get rid of it, though, when the time comes....anybody have any knowledge on that? (I know that the flap, like twin skin and stretch marks and just general mommy "sagging" ought to be considerd badges of honor. But really, I'm tired of looking more matronly than my mom...who is almost 30 yrs my senior).
SIGH

I don't have an answer, Rachel, but I would like to hear any responses, since I am in the same boat.
God Bless,

You guys are military, right? Here's a little secret-the military plastic surgeons (who usually do reconstructive work) need to do a certain number of "cosmetic" procedures a year to keep current in the certification. This includes tummy tucks, liposuction, face lifts, etc. This means you could do it and have tricare cover it.
If you see a plastic surgeon for something else (like a mole removal, in my case!) and develop a relationship you can broach the subject of cosmetic surgery. The guy I saw said he would be willing do lipo and a tummy tuck for me after I maximized my weight loss with diet and exercise. I haven't done that yet, but hopefully someday!!!

OOOOOO! I'm military!
I wonder if I can even find a plastic surgeon here, though. So many of the dr's are deployed right now...not to mention how many surgeries that they are doing for the soldiers...
Hm. Now if I can just figure out how to get a referral..
Of course, since I'm still well within childbearing years, it would probably be a waste of time, lol.

Often a medical reason helps facilitate the referral. For example if your fold of skin gets zipped (you might have to switch to pants for a while) some doctors consider that a medical reason.
I've found what really works is getting in shape and patience. My twins were first and I got very stretched. I still have extra skin, but even with 4 additional pregnancies in 7 years, the excess is much smaller now. I have, however, worked hard to get back in shape between pregnancies so that I don't carry excess weight since that's where it all goes. I'm at a point now where it doesn't bother me much anymore. It's a compromise, but it's cheaper and more painless than surgery.
