Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The thread about bedtimes and room sharing has me wondering what stories on tape some of you let your littles listen to while going to sleep. This worked really well for our oldest when he was little (13 years ago!) and I don't know why I haven't tried it with my 3 and 5 yo boys who really have a hard time going to sleep in the same room. So what are your suggestions for good stories?

We listen to a lot of Jim Weiss, Redwall, Once Upon a Time Saints and Hank the Cowdog.

My 11yr old dd got an MP3 player for her birthday so we have started downloading books from the library for them to listen to as well. Much better than all those CDs which never seem to get put away!

For 3-5 yr olds I use the Beatrix Potter, Winnie the Pooh (Peter Dennisons), Jim Weiss, and Little House on the Prarie.

Ditto to all the above suggestions. Mine also love the Thomas the tank Engine stories, The Wind in the Willows, and The Magic Tree House.

We do tapes every night and at naptime... and many times during the day for listening, but for sleeping our favorites are: Jim Weiss and Magic Tree House (dittos) and I'll add Glory stories. And to all I put on the repeat button, so they hear them a couple of times!

Thanks for the other recommendations! We'll add them to our list!

And Molly... one of my goals is to get more "with it" and buy an MP3 player, figure out how to use it, and get rid of the layers of CDs on tape that we have lying around!! I'd love to shelve them for good!!

We got some Franklin Books + Tapes at our local grocery store! They are read by the author... Paulette Bourgeois.

We also use song tapes, and classical music.

Ouuuuh. Wouldn't it be fun for you or your dh to make the dc some tapes? You know, read some favourites... Or have dh record a tape where he talks about what a day in the life of Daddy is like. My dh did this on video, so he could show the dc what he does.

Peace of Christ,
Rebecca ~Mom to 7 under 9!

Thank you for all the suggestions!! I have lots of great ideas now. Unfortunately, our library's selection is limited so I will have to save up for these! Love the "make your own" suggestion Rebecca! I just need to find some time to do it!

Yep, time is the only thing that seems to keep getting in the way of good ideas for me too!

For a season, I made our own tapes.

One thing I've been wanting to do forever but haven't is record the Sunday readings and have them listen to them throughout the week....

so many ideas....
