Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A discussion on the Mater Amabilis Facebook page has me wondering.

We are teaching Cursive First for my 1st grader. Many children can't read cursive, and we were trying to think of ways to encourage and practice reading in cursive.

My oldest son remembered that the first Babar book in its original form was written in cursive. Story of Babar

Do you know of any other books in similar cursive script?

The Aston and Long books:

A Seed is Sleepy
An Egg is Quiet
A Rock is Lively
A Butterfly is Patient

The area combo of print and cursive text. The title and the then the main running thread of text through the pages is cursive. The little narratives and names/labels of items are text. They are so beautiful and I think that the cursive adds to that flow.

Interesting topics and you've got me thinking...I know I have some others I have come across. Specifically ones that are written like journals or a series of letters have been done in cursive. Need to think to remember which titles.

Babar is a fun book!

I think that the main incentive to learn to read cursive for my older children has been the fact that I tend to default to cursive when writing by hand.

Including writing assignments in their assignment book, comments when marking, explanations and instructions, copying down narrations and stories told to me ...... anything more then a handful of words is liable to be in cursive.
