No- not Max and Ruby!

Max's Words is one in a series by Kate Banks that we recently discovered.

Max wants a collection like his brothers have, so he starts a word collection.. what fun to see what he does with it! The writing is a little choppy in places, but the idea is solid. He and his brothers use the words to build all kinds of stories. The illustrations are as much fun as the story.

It is a very boy friendly series. We just read Max's Castle today, which was even better, IMO. The word play is clever- he switches letters around in words to get himself and his brothers out of some tight jams with pirates, dragons, etc. Again, the pictures are half the fun.

Boris Kulikov is the illustrator. He has a bit of an edgy style, but oh, my.
The pictures in Max's castle are 100% boy. Some of them just cracked me up!
