What are your favorite books that feature onomatopoeia? 
I just checked out a gorgeous new book featuring art by Gennady Spirin: Frog Song. It's a lovely tour of frogs around the world and includes delicious "ribbits" and "ker-thunks" throughout the book. This book would be an excellent addition to any unit featuring frogs also...
Another good one from the animal kingdom is Bird Talk: What Birds Are Saying and Why.

Oh Ellie, I meant to ZIP over here and PLOP down some recommendations right away after the board opened - but BOOM I got distracted. 
A FAVORITE for animals sounds - Gobble Growl Grunt (Peter Spier)
The Chicken Chasing Queen of Lamar County - Janice Harrington (all kinds of chick and chicken sounds)
Thunder Cake - Patricia Polacco (weather/storm sounds)
Maybelle the Cable Car - Virginia Lee Burton (cable car tings and dings)
These two I love - they remind me of each other, as well - both have you going through different terrains where you hear the onomatopoeia.
We're Going on a Bear Hunt
Honey Honey Lion!
I really have a soft spot for this one. A night time favorite of my oldest when he was a little. Has house sounds at night onomatopoeia.
Poinsettia and the Firefighters
I mentioned this one in wordless books even though it isn't exactly wordless - but the only words are onomatopoeia.
Red Sled – Lita Judge
Red Hat by same author is similar.
These two don't have much onomatopoeia. Just one animal to focus on, but they are such lovely books and they do then technically feature onomatopoeia.
Pocketful of Cricket (Rebecca Caudill) - onomatopoeia limited to the cricket sound "chee" but it is a lovely book.
Owl Moon (Jane Yolen) has the haunting owl “whooos.”

We have a book called Moo Baa Oink Quack
The kids like that one. I cannot recall if we have any others.......

Yes, it's a crazy word.
I was walking the other day and realized that "flip flops" definitely are named appropriately for the sound they make! - onomatopoeia footwear.

A classic onomatopoeia children's book is Margaret Wise Brown's The Noisy Book.
This thread - Bird Picture Books w/Bird Call Sounds has lots of good bird books with onomatopoeia of their calls.

Buzz by Janet Wong was a great book we enjoyed when my son was very young. We went to the Easter Egg Roll at the White House when he was 2 or 3, and this book was in the gift bag.

Well, there's always Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? My son also loves all the different dog sounds in Doggies.

I'm going to be putting this new book in multiple sections - it is that GOOD!
Locomotive
Author/illustrator, Brian Floca, is amazing. I have thoroughly enjoyed his amazing books so far. This one probably tops the list for me. It is full of train sound onomatopoeia in addition to its cute story, thorough history coverage, rich language and engaging illustrations.

If anyone here has a son between ages 4-7, you HAVE to check out Demolition! This is so fantastic and fun and perfectly structured with excellent rhyming as well and onomatopoeia galore! Super highly recommended!
